Sunderland's Marton Fulop claims it would be 'enormous honour' to help Manchester City out in their goalkeeping crisis

Sunderland keeper Marton Fulop has insisted he would be 'honoured' to sign for Manchester City.

City have lost Shay Given for the rest of the season after he dislocated his shoulder during Saturday's clash with Arsenal.

Their No 2 Stuart Taylor is also sidelined through injury, and with only number three Gunnar Nielsen available, they have made an emergency request to the Premier League to sign a goalkeeper on emergency loan.

Bound for City? Marton Fulop in action for Sunderland against Chelsea earlier this year

Sunderland's Hungarian keeper Fulop has emerged as one of the likely targets.

He told Sky: 'I can't confirm officially any approach because personally I haven't been contacted by anyone.

'But if the news is true then I'd go there happily and I would be hungry to play for Manchester City.

'This is an enormous honour for me that my name has been linked with a club which has such a great history.'

Fulop has played 14 games for Sunderland this year, but young Northern Irishman Trevor Carson played in last weekend's clash with Hull.
