Tottenham eye £4.5m-rated Genoa keeper Marco Amelia to stand-in for Heurelho Gomes

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Genoa goalkeeper Marco Amelia as they search for back-up for Heurelho Gomes.

The Italy international looks set to leave his current club this summer after falling out with boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 28-year-old has also attracted interest from Roma and Fiorentina, and is rated at about £4.5million.

Throwing it all away: keeper Amelia looks set to leave Genoa

Genoa have already lined up potential replacements. They have tracked Almeria's Diego Alves, but AC Milan's interest in the Brazilian has turned Genoa towards Chievo's Stefano Sorrentino.

There have been no formal approaches yet for Roma fan Amelia, who has been consigned to the bench for the last three Serie A matches.

However, reports in Italy say Tottenham are considering him alongside other potential summer recruits such as Spartak Moscow's Stipe Pletikosa, Watford's Scott Loach and Coventry's Keiren Westwood.
