How Ulrika's love rival Nancy was offered £250,000 to be part of Big Brother showdown

Nancy Dell'Olio has been offered £250,000 to join the Celebrity Big Brother house in a bid to reverse dwindling viewing figures.

With no sign of any scandal so far, Channel 4 chiefs hope drafting in Ulrika Jonsson's former love rival will spice up life in the house.

The Mail has learned that producers made an initial bid of £125,000 for the fiery Italian lawyer after signing up Miss Jonsson back in December.

Miss Dell'Olio declined the original offer saying the last thing she wanted was to be dragged into a televised row.

However, Channel 4 have come back with higher and higher bids, culminating in the staggering £250,000 this week.

Miss Jonsson was the other woman when then England boss Sven Goran Eriksson cheated on Miss Dell'Olio in 2002.

After the affair was exposed, the two women became sworn enemies.

Miss Dell'Olio has said of Miss Jonsson: 'She has the morals of an alley cat. Sven's affair with her was brief and meaningless.'

Miss Jonsson hit back saying it was her affair with Eriksson that had made Miss Dell'Olio famous.

She said: 'I think I did her the world of good. She is now incredibly well known and clearly this is something she enjoys.'

Miss Dell'Olio's advisers have been mulling over the offer yet it is understood that she is still unlikely to sign up, having been told the move could be 'career suicide' for her.

Miss Jonsson faces eviction this week despite being the highest-paid celebrity in the house, with a fee of £175,000.
