'That's not me... that's Carrie Underwood!' Singer opens up about real life verses her onstage persona

She is one of the most famous country music stars out there.

But when she's not performing on stage Carrie Underwood is just an ordinary girl, at least according to her.

The music sensation told Redbook's November issue: 'I love being onstage, but that's different. That's not Carrie. That's Carrie Underwood. The rest of my life I feel like I'm incredibly disappointing to people.

Getting candid: Carrie Underwood opened up to Redbook magazine about what the real Carrie is like, why online bullying has changed her approach to social media, and how having her son has changed her life

'Like if I run into someone at the grocery store, I really don't know what to say because I don't have a microphone in my hand or bling on. They expect me to be Carrie Underwood, but I'm just Carrie. I'm sorry!'

The country music star has managed to combine her successful career with marriage and motherhood.

She has been married to Mike Fisher since 2010 and they just recently had their first child, one-year-old Isaiah Michael Fisher.

The star opened up about having another child.

'If my husband were at the beginning of his career, I'm not sure we could handle it.

'Since he's kind of nearing the end and won't be traveling so much, we're like, "We can figure it out for not that long."'

She continued: 'You make it work. When I was pregnant, I thought, "How am I going to go on the road? How am I going to keep doing my job?" I had to just give it to God and stop worrying about it. Sure enough, we figured it out.'

Her baby boy: 'I definitely feel like it's changed me as a person [motherhood]. I'm happier. I'm in a better mood a lot of the time'

Turn heads in an embellished Needle & Thread dress

Carrie Underwood is Redbook magazine's latest cover girl and during her photo shoot she wore a number of ladylike designs including a lace romper, an embroidered skirt and this statement dress by Needle & Thread.

The British brand is known for their romantic, whimsical and often embellished pieces and they stuck to their signature aesthic with this sleeveless number. Covered in colorful beads with a butterfly motif and a lace trim, this is one eye catching frock.

We'd team it with a pair of nude pumps and minimal jewelry to let this showpiece take center stage. It's available at Shopbop for $569 so click right to buy yours now.

However, if you need more choices before you make your final decision, check out the gallery below. This dress by Cynthia Steffe is very Needle & Thread-esque and it's on sale for $150 at Saks Off Fifth or get the real thing at ASOS.

She also admitted that the key to making it all work is having some support: 'Ask for help. Accepting help is hard for me, but I'm learning. Sometimes I feel guilty that this is my son's life.

'We live on a bus and we're in a hotel room and sometimes we're in the middle of nowhere and it's not so great. It's not all glamorous. We have a nanny who helps out, especially when we're on the road. But I'd feel guilty asking someone to watch him at home while I run to the grocery store.'

Apparently having a child changed her as a person: 'I definitely feel like it's changed me as a person. I'm happier. I'm in a better mood a lot of the time. He'll be watching cartoons and I'll be watching him. I'm completely in love. I love it when he's sleepy and I get to hold him and smell him. He doesn't know I'm staring at him and being all googly-eyed!'

Like everybody else: 'I love being onstage, but that's different. That's not Carrie. That's Carrie Underwood. The rest of my life I feel like I'm incredibly disappointing to people'

Despite having a huge online presence and using social media, Carrie admits she has to be careful with it: 'I feel like bullies have changed the way I react to the world. You want to be connected to your fans, and I used to feel like I could go through social media and talk to people, really have that communication.

But you get to a point where there are too many mean people saying mean things— probably just to get a reaction from you—and eventually I was like, "I don't know if I can do this." You have to have a barrier up, which is sad.'

The new issue of Redbook hits newsstands on October 18.
