She has recently undergone some rather public heartbreak.

So it's understandable that TOWIE's Megan McKenna went back to her roots for some much-needed family time on Monday.

The reality TV star was spotted putting on a brave face while out in Essex, where she was joined by her mother, Tanya.

Wrapping up for the increasingly-autumnal weather, the brunette beauty sported a fitted padded jacket in bubblegum pink.

Sexing-up the look, she added a pair of leather-effect trousers and a simple black T-shirt which showed-off her slimline shape. 

Keeping it casual with a pair of trainers, she was joined by her beloved pet pooch.

Strolling through the local green space, she was arm-in-arm with her blonde matriarch, who looked more stylish than her daughter. 

In fact, she scored a fashion hit with her ensemble, which featured a sheepskin-effect sleeveless jacket with fitted jeans and tan-colored accessories. 

Both appearing stoney-faced, chances are they were probably discussing the after-effects of Pete Wicks' sexting drama.

It was reported earlier this month that the tattooed hunk had sent highly explicit messages to ex Jacqui Ryland during his time in Marbella - before admitting he couldn't wait to be home from the 'boring' trip with his girlfriend.

According to the paper, many of the texts between Pete and Jacqui were too explicit to print. 

However one message reportedly saw Pete admitting to the mother-of-three that he 'can't wait to get home' and that it is not just Jacqui who misses their previous relationship.

It is also claimed that he found his girlfriend's lack of drinking boring, and even hinted at a split to Jacqui - implying to her that no one knows what the future holds, when she vented her frustration about him not being single.

Pete and Jacqui embarked on a two-month long fling last year after meeting on Twitter.

Megan has since posted a heart-wrenching video on Snapchat in which she revealed the situation was 'f***ing hurtful and heartbreaking.'

She said tearfully to the camera: 'I actually found some messages on Pete’s phone a few weeks ago and they weren’t good but I thought I’d give him another chance, as I feel like everyone deserves a second chance.

She continued: 'The way that he was speaking to me was that he was really sorry and didn’t mean it. Obviously it’s not right that he was messaging other girls but he told me it was just innocent flirting.'
