The actress best known for her roles in Divergent, The Fault In Our Stars and Snowden was taken into custody in connection with criminal trespass and engaging in a riot, Morton County Sheriff's Department spokesman Rob Keller told the AP. About 300 people participated in the tense demonstration, with 27 arrests made, he added.
No one was hurt in the incident, which shut down a nearby highway four hours, Keller said.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager star streamed the day's events on Facebook Live, providing a narrative of her experience: 'I was walking back to my RV, which is right there, so that we can go back to camp peacefully, and [authorities] grabbed me by my jacket and said that I was not allowed to continue. And they had giant guns and batons and zip ties, and they're not letting me go.'

Cuffed: Woodley was one of 27 people arrested in the protest, which drew about 300 people
Cuts both ways: Woodley said that cops singled her out because she's 'well-known'
A police officer told the actress, 'We can't talk right here, but you're going to be placed under arrest for criminal trespassing,' later telling her that she was going to be placed into custody - and not some other protesters nearby - since officers had identified her.
Woodley continued, telling her Facebook Live audience: 'Alright I'm being arrested because I was trespassing like everyone. As soon as [police] asked me to leave, I l left. She was down there, everybody was down there. I'm being arrested. I was down there with everybody else.
'As soon as they came I left … it's because I'm well-known. It's because I have 40,000 people watching.'
Defining moment: Woodley's career surged with 2014's The Fault In Our Stars, as the romantic drama was a hit with critics and audiences alike, taking in more than $124 million
She continued, 'So everybody knows, we were going to our vehicle which they had all surrounded and waiting for me with giant guns and a giant truck behind them just so they could arrest me. I hope you're watching, mainstream media.'
The pipeline, which is being built by Energy Transfer Partners out of Dallas, is slated to weave through four states: Iowa, Illinois, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Woodley faces up to 30 days in jail and fines up to $1,500 in connection with the misdemeanor charges.
