Michelle Williams 'in talks to play' the late Janis Joplin in upcoming biopic
She has previously played the iconic Marilyn Monroe and now she could soon be transformed into one of the greatest voices on the Sixties.
Michelle Williams is in early talks to play Janis Joplin according to Variety.
The 36-year-old star may already be 10 years older than the iconic singer was when she died, but Hollywood heavyweights think she is the actress to take on the burden of continuing the Piece Of My Heart songstress' legacy.

According to Variety, while talks are early the film already has a director Sean Durkin - who helmed Martha Marcy May Marlene - and it is being produced by Peter Newman.
While a number of films about the late singer's life has been proposed and have fallen by the wayside, this film has the fact that Newman has the rights to a significant portion of Janis' back catalogue and written materials on its side.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Janis, as the project is currently titled, is based on the book Love, Janis written the late singer's sister, Laura Joplin.
The book uses letters written by the star to family and friends to illustrate both her triumphs and struggles with fame, heroin and alcoholism.

Janis was just 27 when she passed away from a heroin overdose.
While only on the earth for a short time, she released three albums and became one of the great voices of her generation.
