And she said she took her son to the emergency to be treated for food poisoning when he began throwing up after eating some of it.

Her video shows maggots crawling over pieces of half-eaten fried chicken.

She claimed that fly eggs were in the chicken the day she bought it, but the following day, they hatched and maggots emerged.

‘This is what we got from KFC and when we first got it, it was fly eggs on the chicken,’ she says in the video.

‘And this is the second day and the eggs hatched and they turned into maggots.’

The woman said she reported the maggots to the local branch’s manager, but said no-one returned her call.

The incident is not a criminal matter, Helena-West Helena Police told Fox 13.

However, the department said they decided to release the video to make the public aware of the incident.

A KFC spokesman told DailyMail.com that it is 'extremely unlikely that this happened while the food was still inside our restaurant.'

'KFC follows strict food safety and handling procedures and works closely with local and state Health Departments to ensure the safety of our food and health of our guests,' the spokesman said.

'In fact, a few days before, as well as immediately after we learned of this allegation, the Health Department conducted thorough investigations at the restaurant and found no evidence of temperature issues, pest issues, spoiled food, or any other issues of concern.

'Our chicken is inspected and hand-breaded in our kitchens by expertly trained cooks before being cooked to a temperature of 165F or higher, and hot-held at a temperature above 140F.

'These strict procedures we have in place make it extremely unlikely that this happened while the food was still inside our restaurant.'
