A New Mexico mother did nothing to stop her boyfriend and his cousin from raping and dismembering her daughter on the day after her 10th birthday, even as the girl begged for them to stop, police say. Michelle Martens (inset top) admitted that she silently watched her daughter, Victoria (seen left and right), be killed by Fabian Gonzales and his cousin, Jessica Kelley inset center and bottom), in August. She then allegedly had sex with Gonzales 20 minutes later. The claims emerged across three interviews with police during which Martens told a series of conflicting accounts. Forensic reports said the girl had been dosed with meth, raped, strangled, stabbed and dismembered.

Kanye West took out the large equity line of credit on his New York City apartment, according to records filed on September 27. JP Morgan granted the line of credit to him on July 12. The agreement states that the bank will make advances to Kanye in a principal amount not exceeding $2million. Kanye has until 2036 to pay back the funds. The line of credit was taken out just months before Kanye purchased Kim a 20-carat Lorraine Schwartz emerald cut diamond engagement ring worth $4million, which was stolen during the robbery last month along with another case of jewelry. Insurance documents state that the 13 items taken during the incident are worth approximately $5.6million.

A YouTube user posted a video online showing a curious illusion he saw over the weekend on Lake Superior. Jason Asselin was on a fall foliage trip on Saturday when he and friends noticed a ship-like image appear on the horizon. He had to zoom 200 times on his camera to see the object clearly, meaning that if it was real the ship would have been hundreds of feet tall. One possibility is that the lake projected the image of a lighthouse nine miles away onto that spot on the water.

An emotional Jana Kramer opened up about the horrifying abuse she suffered at the hands of her first husband, and her initial reaction when she learned years later that he had committed suicide. Kramer was just 19 when she married 36-year-old Michael Gambino (mugshot inset) in 2005, and soon after that wedding is when the abuse began according to the actress and country singer. It eventually escalated to the point where Gambino tried to kill her one night, which led to his arrest and five years behind bars. Two years after he was released in 2010, he took his own life. 'I remember getting the call that he committed suicide and I felt bad because my first feeling was relief that he was gone,' said Kramer

John Clark (pictured right with his family), of Houston, launched a frantic search for his 18-year-old daughter (left and right) when she went missing in April. The high school girl, a childhood cancer survivor, resurfaced in May. She was found in an apartment building with a person now accused of being her captor. Clark is now fighting to improve anti-human trafficking legislation and warn other parents while his daughter is in residential therapy. He says his daughter was only 16 when the grooming began. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg says animals taste better when you've hunted them yourself. Zuckerberg showed off his grilling prowess in a Facebook Live video ahead of the presidential debate on Sunday night. The billionaire told his viewers he was smoking a brisket and some ribs for friends who were coming over to watch the debate with him. 'Things taste better when you make them yourself,' he said. 'And they taste doubly better when you've hunted the animal yourself.'

The 24-year-old actress was livestreaming her protest Monday of the four-state Dakota Access pipeline for a total of more than two-and-a-half hours Monday before her arrest by local authorities. Toward the end of a two hour video, Woodley is told by a law enforcement officer that she is being arrested for criminal trespassing. The video showing what appeared to be a peaceful protest has been viewed more than three million times. Morton County Sheriff's Department spokesman Rob Keller says Woodley was one of 27 protesters arrested Monday. She was also charged with engaging in a riot.

A rare genetic disorder causes sufferers to swell as if they are having an allergic reaction - but it happens at random. Hereditary angioedema (or HAE) is a condition that deprives the blood of protein. For some reason, this leads sufferers to have spontaneous attacks of swelling that could stop them from breathing. And drug manufacturers are only just beginning to develop a kind of antihistamine that may be able to provide instant relief. One sufferer, Linda Miller of Houston, Texas, (pictured) described her condition.

The Broadway Bridge, linking Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas, refused to fall on Monday when explosives were expected force the steel bridge to the ground. The bridge was deemed dangerously weak back in 2010 and state officials decided it had to be replaced. But the span - which closed to traffic on September 28 - proved its strength when explosives went of a few seconds after 10am on Tuesday and it refused to budge an inch. The bridge finally came down at 2.48pm, using a barge pulled by a tug.

Ice cream brain freeze can take some getting used to, but this toddler's reaction is adorable and hilarious in equal measure. For toddler Lyla, from New Zealand, this process may take quite a long time. The youngster puts a spoon of ice cream in her mouth, but after a split second she begins shaking, with her face a picture of shock. She makes a noise to suggest that the chill has well and truly got to her, as her mini shivering fit continues. Her reaction and facial expression would suggest that she did not enjoy her first ice cream experience at all, but suddenly she raises her spoon and goes in for a second taste.

Photographs of a giant panda foraging through rubbish and apparently eating it (pictured) at a Chinese zoo has sparked outrage in the country. The images, captured by a visitor to Taiyuan Zoo in Shanxi province, showed the bear rooting through assorted junk in its enclosure, including a water bottle (right), food debris and a balloon (left). After the pictures appeared on Chinese social media site Weibo, thousands of people commented on the incident, calling for the zoo to be scrapped of its rights to house China's national treasure.

Johanna Nordblad, from Helsinki, Finland, once nearly lost her leg in a horrific accident but painful ice therapy saved it - now she's a world record-breaking freediver who swims under frozen lakes. The footage, said to have been captured in Ontario, Canada, shows a number of women - including the bride - sitting on chairs and waiting for the newlywed to pass. Blindfolded and being helped along by a another man, he stops at each female guest and uses his hands to feel their bare legs, knees and thighs. The groom, dressed in a dinner jacket, eventually reaches his wife and manages to identify her before pulling off his blindfold and leaning in for a kiss while guests cheer him on.
