At the 19th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night, nail art was the beauty trend that stole the spotlight.

And from rhinestone embellishment to intricate hand-painted butterflies, these eye-catching details proved the perfect complement to every red carpet look.

Among the trendsetters at the awards show in Los Angeles were Anne Hathaway, Kelly Osbourne, Busy Philipps, Haley Cuoco and Sarah Hyland.

Anne Hathaway - who won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Les Miserables - coordinated her fingertips with her sheer black Giambattista Valli haute couture gown.

Three of the actress's bright white nails were adorned with intricate hand-painted black butterflies.

The 30-year-old star wasn’t the only one to go asymmetrical and sport nail art on just a few fingers.

A very pregnant Busy Philipps - star of the television show Cougar Town - jazzed up her nude manicure with gold crystal embellishment on just two of her nails.

The queens of hearts: Both Kaley Cuoco (left) and Kelly Osbourne (right) opted for heart designs, but their different takes on the trend revealed their own personal styles

The look mirrored her outfit choice - a neutral black gown embellished with a large blue jeweled necklace.

Modern Family starlet Sarah Hyland, 22, also went the way of understated embellishment.

Each of her pale pink tips were decorated with a single diamante crystal, complementing her ultra-feminine yet simple purple strapless gown.

Of all the variations of nail art on the red carpet, hearts stole the show - perhaps a nod to upcoming Valentine's Day.

The star's fingertips matched perfectly with her scarlet floor-sweeping gown and red jewel-encrusted clutch.

Meanwhile Kelly Osbourne, 28, went with an edgier heart design, accenting her nude nails with pointy black heart-shaped tips.

The Fashion Police panellist's nail decoration complemented her glam rock studded black Jenny Packham dress, as well as her massive black crystal cocktail ring.
