Pub landlady Maud Mellors drove around the centre of the city in East Yorkshire with her son Peter (together, centre) in the late 1960s and filmed everything she saw. The video has now emerged nearly 50 years later after her grandson Nick Mellors, 52, found the reels in an attic and developed the footage. He believes his grandmother was testing out her new camera ahead of a trip to Australia in 1969, but never got round to developing the footage. Ms Mellors had filmed various parts of the city as she sat in the passenger seat. Mr Mellors, who is a quality controller for a reprographics company, said: 'It's absolutely fantastic to see the city as it was half a century ago.'

A first-time skydiver in the skies above the Bay of Islands in New Zealand, 29-year-old Anthony Killeen witnessed the incredibly rare sight of a circular rainbow as he was in freefall. The stunning optical phenomenon allows the observer to see sunlight hitting water particles from both above and below, revealing a circular shape rather than the normal arc.
