Queen Máxima of the Netherlands dons a £2,000 Givenchy dress in her native Buenos Aires - as her husband makes friends with Kate on the other side of the world

Her husband may have been more than 10,000km away making friends with the British royals.
But Queen Máxima didn't seem fazed at missing out on the fun as she attended a series of solo engagements in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.
The stylish royal, who is married to King Willem-Alexander, looked in her element in the Argentinian capital - which is also her birthplace - as she threw on an eye-popping green leopard print dress.

The Duchess of Cambridge was in the Netherlands today, but she missed the chance to meet Queen Maxima, who is on a visit to Argentina.
They might not have been face to face but from a fashion perspective we still saw them both looking very chic indeed! Kate opted for a smart cornflower blue skirt suit by Catherine Walker for her first solo overseas visit, whilst Maxima went all out for glamour in a Givenchy leopard print dress, which she styled with Christian Louboutin heels and a Chanel bag.

The mother-of-three is was making the visit as part of her role as Special Advisor to the Secretary General of United Nations Ban Ki-Moon on Financial Inclusion for Development.
Later this evening, she is due to give a talk at the Catholic University of Argentina (UCA) in Puerto Maderno on 'the importance of strong connections in financial infrastructure', according to La Nacion.
Máxima is also expected to have talks with the Minister of Finance and Public Finance, Alfonso Prat-Gay, and the president of the Central Bank, Federico Sturzenegger.

Their three daughters, Princesses Catharina-Amalia, Alexia and Arian, are believed to be at home in the Netherlands.

Last week, the pair teamed up for a visit to Bogotá, Colombia, to meet with president Juan Manuel Santos.
It marked the busy queen's third engagement in a week, week having stepped out solo twice already.
On Wednesday she attended the opening of the Anna Pavlovna exhibit in Apeldoorn - and on Tuesday she stepped out in Rotterdam for the opening of the Fifth European Nursing Congress.
