They were a match made in reality TV heaven.

But Pete Wicks' ex-girlfriend Jacqui Ryland has accused the TOWIE star of capitalising on his relationship with Megan McKenna for fame.

Pete broke Celebrity Big Brother star Megan's heart recently when it was revealed that he had been sending explicit messages to Jacqui, behind her back.

Jacqui told new! magazine: 'I think from her point of view it was 100 per cent genuine, but from his, not so much.'

She went on: 'Clearly it's something he's always had in him because other girls have come forward and said: "A leopard never changes his spots. He did exactly the same thing to me". When it comes to women, he can't help himself.'

The brunette insisted that she practised the 'girl code' when she let Megan know about what was going on, by speaking to the newspapers about it.

Jacqui is convinced that Pete pulled the wool over the public's eyes, accusing him of acting on screen.

She concluded: 'The public thought he was some kind of saint and he's not at all. He's played the public quite well.'

Megan and Pete quickly struck up a bond when she joined the ITVBe reality TV show in March.

Previously she shared an on-screen fling with Geordie Shore's Scotty T during her time in Channel 5's CBB.

Megan's ex Scotty believes he messed with the wrong feisty brunette, telling MTV last week: 'At the end of the day, [Pete] shouldn't have been doing it.

'Pete must be devastated. I mean, I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of her, man.

'I remember once on Big Brother she said to me, "If you ever do anything wrong I'll cut your d*** off".'

Having shared some seriously intimate pictures during her time with Pete in the last six months, Megan has now deleted all traces of her ex from her social media.

Scenes in which she confronts Pete about the sexting allegations are due to air on TOWIE on Wednesday night.

A preview clip for the episode showed Megan disregarding her birthday gift from Pete, saying that it was a 'guilt' gift.

Pete purchased a gold Rolex watch for the brunette on her birthday and gifted her flowers in new scenes from The Only Way Is Marbs, which aired on Sunday.
