SPOILER ALERT: Grief stricken David Platt is locked in the Bistro by mother Gail after plotting deadly revenge against Clayton Hibbs on Coronation Street

A grief stricken David Platt is forced to take extreme measures this week after discovering his wife’s killer might not get the justice he deserves on Coronation Street.

Still reeling from the brutal death of his beloved Kylie, David plots to exact his own extreme brand of revenge on her murderer, Clayton Hibbs, who stands a very real chance of escaping court without a conviction.

Pushed to the brink of suicide, he plots to drive a car filled with petrol into the killer - only for his plan to be foiled when concerned mother Gail stumbles upon a goodbye video made for his children.

Taking matters into her own hands, she successfully locks her son in the Bistro cellar in a last ditch attempt to prevent him harming himself, or others.

However the bereaved husband manages to outwit Gail and escape, leaving him free to execute his deadly plan.

Speaking to The Mirror, actor Jack Shepherd, who plays David, recently admitted Kylie's harrowing death scenes left him unable to sleep for a week.

'After Kylie’s death scenes I couldn’t eat or sleep. I’ve never taken the job home with me before. But those scenes affected me, they were so harrowing.'
