Are You Ready For Love? Enthusiastic Elton John, 69, throws his all into all-star charity tennis event in Las Vegas

Stripped of his distinctive, novelty spectacles, Elton John's dedication to his charity tennis match was written all over his face on Monday.

The 69-year-old musician maintained a serious, concentrated expression as he threw his all into the World Team Tennis Smash Hits event in Las Vegas.

His charity match, held at Ceasars Palace where performer Elton is enjoying a residency, was benefitting the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The father-of-two lunged to make some of the trickier points on the court on Monday, proving that he wasn't just there to take part.

His distinctive, copper crop was more dishevelled than usual and even though he'd taken his glasses off for the activity, he left his chunky silver earring in.

Elton looked the part in black tennis gear, seemingly undeterred by an injury that saw his left knee in a supportive brace.

The veteran musician was the life and soul of the sporting event and subsequent live auction.

Still in high spirits off the court, he was seen taking selfies with former tennis player Martina Navratilova.

He also seemed to share a giggle with Billie Jean King, who served in more of a cheer leading capacity on the day, sharing words of encouragement and calling out from the sidelines.

They both served as hosts for the annual all-star tennis event, which also saw Maria Sharapova return to the court for the first time in seven months.

The Russian former Wimbledon winner was back and playing in public, following a two-year suspension in June.

Maria failed a drugs test back in March during a Melbourne tournament but returned to the side of tennis greats Andy Roddick and John McEnroe for a good cause.

'It was a big occasion for [my partner Taylor Johnson] and also for me,' Sharapova said.

'I haven't been on a court for a while, for both of us, it was to have some fun and a bit of laughs.'

The blonde was taking part in a doubles match against women's players Navratilova and Liezel Huber.
