Baby boy who was born with full head of hair had his first 'traumatic' trim just WEEKS later - and his mum gives him a blowdry every morning

  • Amy Price's baby son Jesse Price-Carelli was born with thick black locks
  • 32-year-old from south Wales says strangers stop and ask to touch his hair
  • Believes mop is from dad Julien Carelli who has French and Italian heritage

A mum has told how her baby son was born with a full head of thick black hair and had his first 'traumatic' haircut just weeks later.

Amy Price, 32, of Cwmbran, south Wales, revealed that despite being just 17 weeks old, Jesse Price-Carelli has a bigger bouffant than most adults - and gets his mop blowdried every morning.

The mother believes his locks are inherited from his dad Julien Carelli, 37, who has French and Italian heritage, and admits that the tot gets stopped in the street by awestruck strangers who want to touch his hair.

Though she mainly had a healthy pregnancy, Amy did experience a little heartburn whilst expecting.

According to an old wives tale, this can linked to babies being born with an above average amount of hair.

Recalling the first time she saw her son, Amy continued: 'When he came out, the first thing we saw was this shock of dark hair.

'Everyone was taken aback. The midwives told me they'd never seen anything like it.'

Often, newborns experience hair loss in their first six months of life, due to hormonal changes.

But in Jesse's case, his mop has grown and grown. At seven weeks old, he had his first haircut, which Amy said was 'traumatic.'

She explained: 'It started getting into summer and his hair had grown all the way down the back of his neck like a little mullet.

'I toyed with the idea of leaving it, but it was too hot for him.

'I felt terrible cutting my newborn baby's hair. I didn't think I'd have to do that for a couple of years.'

Now, though, the tot's hair has grown back ten times faster.

'His hair naturally sticks up so he looks like a little Dennis the Menace,' said Amy.

'He has his hair on show all the time. The only time we cover it up is when he's cold.

'He absolutely loves the attention he gets. He can be moaning then cheer up when people come over.

'He laughs and smiles when people want to touch his hair. We get nothing but compliments.

We're always told Jesse should be a model. He's such a lovely little baby.'

Amy admitted simple errands can take hours because so many people stop her to ask about his hair.

'Everywhere we go, strangers stop us and ask if they can touch his hair,' she said.

'I went to Sainsbury's the other day and forgot half my shopping because I got so distracted with talking to people.

'Once, a woman even asked if she could cuddle him and took him over to show her friends.'
