When it comes to unlikely animal friendships, this bond between a puppy and a goat is one of the cutest around.

An adorable video shows the four-month-old mutt meeting a four-day-old goat for the first time.

At home in Seattle the pup found the unexpected visitor by his bed one morning.

Yet immediately he took to the baby goat, and the two swiftly became friends.

Sean Cadden posted the footage to YouTube back in March 2016.

It has gathered up over 1.3million views on the site, and over 25,000 shares on Facebook.

In the video the white Golden Retriever leans in to nuzzle his new pal.

He then loses his mind and goes completely crazy dancing about beside the young billy.

The kid seems rather confused as to why the puppy is so happy, but seems to be entertained.

One commenter joked: 'More like 4 month old puppy nearly gives 4 day old goat a heart attack. '

And others shared such concerns, feeling the video feels 'wrong' because the owner should not have let the goat be chased around by the dog.

Another commenter wrote: 'I have to question the intelligence of these people for letting a fragile, 4 day old goat in the same pen as a 4 month old puppy.'

And another added: 'Puppy is too playful for 4 day old goat. How cute would this have been if the puppy injured the goat, like broke a leg or spine?'
