'Blatant lies': Kim Kardashian takes legal action against website which claimed she staged Paris robbery

Kim Kardashian has filed a federal lawsuit against a media outlet after it published stories claiming she lied about the Paris jewelry heist.

The 35-year-old reality star enlisted her lawyers to take action after, she claimed, MediaTakeOut.com posted three articles about her faking the robbery and committing insurance fraud.

In the complaint seen by Dailymail.com, Kim's team accuses the site of 'blatant defamatory lies' and labeling the star 'without any factual support' a 'liar and a thief'.

The lawsuit details stories published by MediaTakeOut.com over the last week, including one claiming that Kim 'staged' the robbery and accuses the website of using 'people off social media as its sources'.

The complaint states that the only people who could possibly know what happened that night are Kim herself, the concierge 'who was also assaulted' and the 'assailants themselves'.

In another article the site reportedly posted, they claimed that 'French authorities' suspected that Kim had actually 'let the robbers in' to her apartment.

Kim's lawyers say the website has no credible sources to back-up the 'false and outrageous' claim.

MediaTakeOut.com also apparently used the following headline in another story: 'If she faked the robbery ... she just committed a FEDERAL CRIME'.

It followed reports, including one by TMZ, that the star had filed an insurance claim for her stolen $4.5 million diamond ring.

The lawsuit states that there is no substance to the article and 'when viewed in the context of the other stories' about Kim faking the robbery and lying to authorities that 'a reasonable person would understand this headline to imply that Kardashian has committed the federal crime of insurance fraud.'

Kim's team say they demanded the website retract the posts and apologize for calling her a 'liar and criminal' but got no response.

On Tuesday MediaTakeOut.com appeared to have removed the content from articles referred to in the lawsuit.

In the early hours of October 3, Kim was robbed by five armed men wearing ski masks and clothes with police markings, who entered her Paris hotel building at around 3am after the concierge let them in.

They tied her up and held a gun to her head as she begged for her life and told them she was a mother of two, before the robbers made off with her giant ring and a jewelry box.

The TV star is said to be 'badly shaken' and 'blaming herself' after the shocking attack, and is already making changes to her public profile and security.

Kim has canceled public appearances for a month and is now recovering at her home in Los Angeles.
