'You shocked me': Jeremy Vuolo surprises Jinger Duggar as he gets down on one knee for rooftop proposal on Counting On

Jeremy Vuolo popped the question to Jinger Duggar on Tuesday's episode of Counting On.

The 29-year-old former professional soccer player proposed  after a few months of chaperoned 'courting'.

The proposal was made on a New York City rooftop with religious music provided by a cello and guitar.

In the run-up to the engagement Jeremy said he was searching for 'a godly woman' like his mother and grandmother.

Lovestruck Jinger, 23, described Jeremy as her 'best friend', 'the most amazing person', and her 'gift from god'.

The weather took a turn for the worse just before the crucial moment and Jeremy turned to prayer.

 'Lord, please give us some respite from this rain, and believe it or not, it stopped,' he said.

After he dropped to one knee the 19 Kids And Counting star said 'yes'.

'You shocked me… I had no clue… I thought it would be at least another month and a half,' said Jinger who had been on 'fast track' courtship with Jeremy [technically no kissing, no frontal hugs and no alone time by Duggar family rules].

'This woman who I love and want to spend the rest of my life with is now my fiancée,' gasped Jeremy as she accepted.

'I love you with all my heart,' he told her.

Jinger was thrilled with the location.

'It was incredible, you could see this beautiful rainbow and the sunset, you couldn't have asked for a better setting,' she gushed.

The ring was also to her taste: 'Not too bling, bling…something simple'.

Before the proposal Jeremy had taken her to the Lower East Side for coffee, Korean BBQ was to follow afterward.

The proceeding days had been spent with Jeremy's family, in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

'To see some of his old stomping grounds,' said Jinger.

He showed her how to make coffee, by pouring the milk in first.

'So smart lovey,' she cooed.

Next they went kayaking on the lake.

'I think it's super romantic,' she giggled, while he noted that there's actually 'a lot of work involved' with kayaking.

The Duggar girls made a rare break from tradition and changed into long shorts for the expedition.

Next they drove to his grandparents' house in New Jersey.

'Jinger has already been corresponding with Jeremy's grandparents, so she has a head start,' said her sister Jessa.

'Grandma was so precious…that connection and bond was so deep,' grinned Jinger as she hugged the pensioners.

Grandma brought out all the 'embarrassing baby photos' but Jinger thought it was 'adorable'.

'Overweight and a little cross-eyed,' disagreed Jeremy.

Jinger was then made to prepare Italian food.

'She's a born cook,' said grandma.

Her next outing was a soccer game in 'ideal seats' to meet his old buddies.

'I guess pro soccer is a really big deal now,' remarked Jessa, 23.

Back at the Duggars' place in Arkansas, Jana and Joy were holding a 'family meeting'.

They were trying to renovate the guest house for Jill and Derick, who were set to return from their missionary work in El Salvador.

Anna, wife of disgraced Josh Duggar, showed up to help.

Josh, who was unveiled in the Ashley Madison scandal and accused of molesting his sisters when he was a teen, has been absent from the show since his transgressions were revealed.

'Jana has been such a rock,' said Anna, 28.

'She will make an amazing wife one day but selfishly, for right now, I'm so thankful that I've had her as a shoulder to cry on,' she added.
