Ciara's $15 million lawsuit against her ex Future has just hit a speed bump.

A judge presiding over the suit ruled on Wednesday that a key part of the R&B singer's filing against the rapper is not libelous enough to warrant her claims of defamation, according to TMZ.

In the lawsuit, Ciara claims Future damaged her public image by writing foul-mouthed tirades against her on Twitter.

However, the judge ruled the tweets were not enough to prove the 30-year-old singer's image had been damaged. The suit is still ongoing but it appears Ciara will have to provide further evidence of defamation.

Last month Future hit back at his ex-fiancée Ciara's claims that his foul-mouthed Twitter tirade cost her a $500,000 cosmetics contract.

The rapper, 32 - who has son Future Zahir, two, with the singer - claimed he had 'nothing to do' with the international company being scared away from doing business with the R&B star after his rant back in January.

TMZ reported the hip-hop sensation claimed the incident should not be part of Ciara's $15million defamation lawsuit against him and was calling for the judge presiding over the case to 'dismiss this part of her claims'.

The website stated: ' He says Ciara has no proof any such deal fell apart. Further, he points out she hasn't even said which company was supposedly courting her.'

In July, Ciara took time out of her honeymoon with new husband Russell Wilson to file yet another lawsuit against her estranged ex-fiancé Future (born Nayvadius Wilburn).

The singer claimed claimed her ex's Twitter tirade in January scared off a $500,000 contract from 'an international cosmetics company'.

'I been silent for a year & a half.. I ran outta patience,' the Purple Reign rapper - who has joint-custody their two-year-old son Future Jr. - tweeted at the time.

'I jus want babyfuture that's all. I gotta go through lawyers to see babyfuture...the f***ery for 15k a month. This b**** got control problems.'

The Grammy winner - born Ciara Princess Harris - responded by filing a defamation lawsuit at Georgia's Fulton Superior Court demanding $15million, $250,000 for legal fees, and a retraction/apology.

Ciara claimed he had made 'several false and defamatory statements' in the press about her and her mothering skills.

Daily Mail Online shared an email between the former couple's attorneys where Ciara claimed Future returned their son 'in dirty clothes, smelling like smoke, and reeking of urine.'

The attorney denied the star was using their son 'as a weapon'.

The toddler's father has previously expressed disgust that his son was getting so attached to Ciara's new husband, football star Russell Wilson.

In June, Future released a new track, inspired by OJ Simpson, called Juice, which may have been directed at Ciara and Russell.

Fans claimed the rapper's song could be referring to Russell, who is a professional football player on the Seattle Seahawks.

The lyric in question is: 'Tryin' to f**k my baby mama, dog what's up with you?'

Last year, Future talked about his ex and her new love during an appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show.

When the radio host asked him how he felt about their relationship, the artist mentioned his displeasure at seeing Russell pushing his son's stroller.

He said on the radio show via Entertainment Tonight: 'Of course I wouldn't want anyone to push my son. That's like the number one rule.

'If I was a kid, and my mom had a dude pushing me, I would've jumped out the stroller and slapped the s**t out of him.

'You know this dude for a few months and you're bringing him around your kid? Who does that? Nobody does that.

'She probably set him [Russell] up. You letting them catch that photo. Leave my son out of all the publicity stunts.'

In May, Ciara tried to obtain sole custody of their son, but a California judge denied her request and awarded her ex joint custody.

Future then withdrew his counter-lawsuit against Ciara and was said to be 'satisfied with the outcome'.

The IMG model famously split from the Wicked hitmaker - who has four children with four different women - three months after the birth of their child amid allegations he cheated with his stylist Tyrina Lee.

Ciara and Future's only child now calls her husband, 27, 'Papa'.

The I Bet songstress and the Seattle Seahawks quarterback - who began their romance early last year - remained celibate until their Peckforton Castle nuptials in Cheshire, England, in July.

Following their wedding Russell told Extra: 'To share the rest of my life with her, Ciara, is really amazing, she’s the sweetest person I ever met, she’s so kind to so many people, she’s the best mom you’ll ever meet.'
