She said that finding the diamond 'will be one of my favorite memories', especially since they found it together.

The Fredericks, who are from Washington, arrived at the park Monday after researching places to find gems online, the Post reported.

In just a half hour, Dan Frederick discovered the stone three feet from where he was standing.

He then went over to the spot, which was near the Star of Arkansas diamond marker, and found the white diamond.

'This is an example of a diamond that all park visitors dream of taking home,' park interpreter Betty Coors told the Post.

The Fredericks are no strangers to gem-hunting. The father and daughter have traversed more than half the country in search of gemstones and this one they plan to keep.

Lauren told the Post that they are 'still kind of in shock' that they were able to find 'something as big and beautiful as our Lucky Diamond'.

It's unclear just how much their diamond is worth. Experts say it could be worth a lot if it is found to be of exceptionally high color and clarity.

Last year, a park visitor found an 8.52-carat gem, which is the fifth-largest diamond found by a visitor to the state park since the site was established in 1972, according to CNN

More than 30 diamonds were discovered in the park's search area last year.

And more than 75,000 diamonds have been unearthed in the park since the first diamonds were discovered there in 1906.
