'It's entertainment!' Sharon Osbourne hits back at speculation she was drunk during live X Factor show... after fans questioned her bizarre behaviour

Over the weekend, she had social media buzzing after she displayed notably bizarre behaviour as she took to her prime judging seat on UK's The X Factor.

And on Tuesday morning, Sharon Osbourne spoke out in her own defence during an appearance on her US chat show The Talk, insisting she was just having fun.

'Why is it while you’re there and you’re having fun and you’re being silly, do you have to be drunk?' Sharon, 64, asked her co-hosts. 'It’s entertainment and it goes out late on a Saturday night.'

Sharon - who appears on The X Factor alongside Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh - added: 'I'm there with bestest - Nicole Scher-linger-linger… She’s funny. She’s naughty and you have fun.'

During Saturday's broadcast of The X Factor, the wife of Ozzy Osbourne appeared to be overly-animated, and also missed her cue on more than one occasion.

She also made reference to co-judge Nicole's breasts and flirted with several young, male acts - much to the live audience's amusement.

She even got the nationality of her contestant Saara Aalto wrong before asking a Scottish contestant to say a supposed phrase-meets-cliché.

But as she spoke on The Talk back in the US this week, Sharon won the support of her colleagues.

While co-host Julie Chen said that Sharon appeared to be her fun-loving, everyday self on the talent show, fellow panellist Sara Gilbert chimed in: 'I've been with Sharon drunk and she wouldn't be covering the girl’s boob, she’d be exposing them.'

Naturally, viewers were quick to vent their criticisms - and theories - on social media.

Shortly after, another posted a picture of empty wine bottles, captioning it: 'Sharon's dressing room tonight'.

Later, she was asked to give an introduction directly to camera for her act, Honey G.

Sadly, she delivered it to the wrong camera and spent almost all of the intro looking into a different lens.

Even host Dermot couldn't resist commenting on her amusingly animated behaviour, saying: 'We want whatever Sharon's on.'
