'We've gotten over it': Kate Beckinsale says she wishes Michael Bay nothing but the best despite him body shaming her

Being told to hit the gym by a man is certainly not something a woman ever wants to hear.

But despite hearing that from her director before she has even stepped on set, Kate Beckinsale told Yahoo! Movies she has no bad blood with Michael Bay.

The 43-year-old is letting bygones be bygones now that 16 years has passed since the director suggested she workout prior to filming 2001 film Pearl Harbor.

The star told Yahoo Movies she has moved on: 'It surprised the s**t out of me, and him really. Pearl Harbor was a long time ago. It's true there was a bit of that going on, but the shaming of people is something I'm against in general.

'I've seen him since, and we've gotten over it. I didn't feel it was personal, and I wish him nothing but the best.'

While she says it was not personal, earlier this year the star told the same publication of how the Transformers director was not that keen on her casting, 'Because I wasn't blond and my boobs weren't bigger than my head, I didn't make sense to him as an attractive woman'.

The Underworld star expanded further on what had occurred between her and the 51-year-old Hollywood heavyweight on The Graham Norton Show.

'It surprised the s***t out of us': The star (picture in Pearl Harbor) said, 'It's true there was a bit of that going on, but the shaming of people is something I'm against in general. I've seen him since, and we've gotten over it'

Kate said: 'I think he was baffled by me because my boobs weren't bigger than my head and I wasn't blonde.

'I'd just had my daughter and had lost weight, but I was told that if I got the part, I'd have to work out. And I just didn't understand why a 1940s nurse would do that.'

Michael went on to apologize - sort of - on his Facebook.

'Kate and I are friendly. She is a fantastic actress, very funny, witty lady, sassy, speaks her mind, and I truly respect her.

'That's why she has come to so many of my Christmas parties and birthday parties.

'So I guess I was the ''bad guy'' 16 years ago for suggesting a trainer because she just had had her new beautiful baby girl - and she was about to enter into an intensive action movie. Ninety-five percent of leads in movies have trainers and drink green juice!'
