A neo-Nazi Facebook page where teenagers talked about 'hanging Jews on trees' has been exposed after its leader, who members dubbed 'The Fuhrer', committed suicide in an apparent pledge of allegiance to the group.

Fifteen students from six high schools across Colorado were involved in '4th Reich's Official Group Chat' where they also discussed killing African-Americans.

Its leader, who attended Boulder Preparatory High School, took his life in September to 'show allegiance to the Nazi party and the killing of Jewish people,' a Boulder Police Department report said.

It's not clear whether the teenager was Jewish. Five other students from the school were expelled after his death.

The teenagers shared photographs of guns, referred to 'killing all the n*****', shooting Jews in the knees and 'gassing as many as you please,' The Boulder Daily Camera reported.

It's not clear how long the group had existed before the teenage boy, who was not named in the Boulder Police Department report, took his life on September 21.

He killed himself 'to show his allegiance to the Nazi party and the killing of Jewish people,' the report said.

Students from Boulder High School, Centaurus High School, Monarch High, Pomona High and Colorado Mountain College, were also involved but none were expelled.

Authorities were alerted to the page when another student of Boulder Preparatory High School reported it.

Boulder Police Department confirmed on Wednesday none of the teens involed faced charges.

'As offensive and repugnant as the online conversation was, the law does not allow for criminal charges simply because we disagree with the content.

'In evaluating this case, Boulder police had to determine whether there were direct threats against any specific person. There was no evidence of this.

'Instead, law enforcement worked collaboratively with the school district, which took action consistent with its policies and standards,' a spokesman told DailyMail.com

Members of the page, which has since been shut down, insisted it was a joke.

One boy, who referred to himself as the leader's 'second in command', told police he never intended to carry out the crimes.
