Princess Mary has made a rare comment about the death of her mother and the impact it had on her life.Â
The 44-year-old's mother, Henrietta 'Etta' Donaldson, passed away in 1997 from a heart condition when Mary was in her mid-20s.
Mary has only talked about her mother's death a few times publicly and naturally the tragedy has had an enormous impact on her.

Providing support: Mary spoke about the death to a 15-year-old whose father passed away when she was 13
Now she has spoken about the trauma to a 15-year-old who had suffered the loss of her father according to Hello Magazine.Â
At a visit to a support group for young people who have experienced grief, Children, Youth and Mourning, Mary talked to teenager Mads Knudsen Topp.
Ms Topp had used the organisation's services three years ago when her father died and was helped by them.Â

'I was 26. It happened too early,' Mary said of her mother's death, which occurred two years before she met her husband Prince Frederik.
'It's so hard to see when it is so close and so personal, but as you get older, you learn to appreciate the time you had together as a gift. And the loss offers something that you wouldn't have otherwise. It makes a strong person.'
Mary, who on Wednesday attended the anniversary of the Danish Psychological Association, was clearly touched by the teenager's story of losing a parent.

She has spoken previously on two occasions about her mother's death, once to the Australian Women's Weekly, and another time to a Danish TV station DR.
'Mum definitely taught me to be independent and to trust myself, and believe in myself and do whatever you set your mind to do. If you go after it, you can achieve it,' Â she told the Australian women's magazine in 2014.Â
'I would love to have more time with my mother. She is part of me.'Â
