'The apple doesn't fall far... a kiss on the cheek while she is sticking a knife in the back': Clinton insider's cutting description of Chelsea revealed

  • Clinton Foundation exec Doug Band gave damning description of Chelsea
  • In 2012 he accused her of 'sticking a knife in the back and front' in email
  • He said 'the apple doesn't fall far' - it's unclear if he was referring to Bill or Hillary Clinton in his comparison
  • Made the remarks in a thread with Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman
  • Bill Clinton's impeachment lawyer Cheryl Mills also received them
  • In other emails Band accused Chelsea of 'running to daddy' to get her way
  • They were among hundreds published by Wikileaks on Sunday

A Clinton insider offered his scathing critique of the family's prodigal daughter in leaked emails revealed on Saturday, accusing Chelsea of giving 'a kiss on the cheek while 'sticking a knife in the back'.

Doug Band, who served as an adviser to Bill Clinton and founded the Clinton Global Initiative, delivered the cutting insult in January 2012.

In an email chain with members of the Clinton Foundation board he let rip on the former first daughter, ridiculing a note she had sent to another member of her parents' close circle.

'She sends me one of these types of emails every few days/week As they say, the apple doesn't fall far... A kiss on the cheek while she is sticking a knife in the back, and front,' he told Hillary's campaign Chairman John Podesta and Cheryl Mills, a lawyer who defended Bill Clinton during his impeachment trial.

It's not clear whether he was likening the 36-year-old to her mother or father.

Band's unkind remarks were in response to an email, written by Chelsea under the pseudonym Diane Reynolds, which had been passed along to him.

'Hi Doug and Justin - Just met Clark Winter on our BA flight and he had terrific things to say about Dad and you Doug and CGI generally and it was nice to hear as ever so I wanted to pass along.

'Sorry for brevity. We're taking off. Hope alls well in Davos Justin. Chelsea,' she wrote.

It was published on Sunday alongside hundreds of others by Wikileaks which has been gradually releasing thousands of hacked messages from Podesta's email account.

It is not the first time Band aired his unfavourable view of his bosses' daughter.

In another email he berated Chelsea for pressuring her father to heed another Clinton Foundation staffer's request that the charity work its annual conference around the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.

'This is the 3rd time this week where she has gone to daddy to change a decision or interject herself in the process she says is so important to maintain,' the email said.

Band told the group, which included Justin Cooper, the aide who maintained Hillary's basement server, that Bill 'decided to keep cgi as it always was.'

The staffer who requested that the Clinton Global Initiative be moved 'is jewish/didnt like that decision and went to cvc and thus it will be changed,' Band opined.

'Wjc will say I never said it shouldn't be changed.. Sad because it will hurt cgi but the larger problem is that cvc has spent 7 days in her office to date and people will go to her with self interested choices to be made and she will side with them thus hurting the organization.

'Not my problemo any more...,' he added.
