Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS)

WHAT IS BCS?

Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is global divine institution. It teaches and practices universal love, peace, unity, truth, and righteousness in the Holy Spirit. The World Headquarters (WHQ) of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star situates at No 34 Ambo Street Calabar, Nigeria West Africa. Brotherhood of the Cross and Star was registered as a corporate body with the Federal Republic of Nigeria on March 1964. Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is the proverbial biblical mustard seed, whose insignificant genesis in Biakpan land, a backwater village in the remotest area of the present Cross River State of Nigeria has metamorphosed into a universal moment with spiritual magnitude made possible by the charismatic personality purposefulness and truthful consistency of is Founder and Leader Olumba Olumba Obu. The name "Brotherhood" means Love, Truth, Good manner, Mercy, Patience, Humility, Meekness, Unity as well as oneness of God’s creations. It is neither a political party, a secret society nor anything of this world. It is the New Kingdom of God instituted and governed by God Himself. The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star upholds the doctrine of mutual dependence that binds everything created and uncreated together. It is the assemblage of the true children of God who have been redeemed by God through the sinless blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is an indisputable spiritual fact that the Sole Spiritual Head of the universe, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu and The King of kings and The Lord of lords, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu are one inseparable entity. Although, they are two physical personalities (The Father and The Son) but they two are one. SACRAMENT

CHILD BLESSING
Child blessing is an acceptable sacrament in Brotherhood. The practice of child blessing has an ancient origin. It is a form of acknowledgement and acceptance by a family, couple and families of God's gift and God's love experienced in the form of a child. As our Lord Jesus Christ was presented in the temple on the eight day, it is mandatory that every child in Brotherhood of the Cross and Star be blessed. It is done either during morning or evening prayers, but with strong emphasis on the eight day. There is an order for the conduction of child blessing as set down by the Holy Spirit. See order of child blessing in later pages.

MARRIAGE BLESSING
Marriage blessing is also one of the sacraments in Brotherhood. Marriage as a holy institution is recommended for all brethren of the fold, if they so wish but on one condition that a man be husband to one wife, and a woman be wife to one husband. Solemnization of marriage in Brotherhood is the highest anybody can desire to experience because it is done by the Holy Spirit. The Father therefore advises that all brethren have their marriages blessed, even if they were married in court or church prior to their baptism into the fold. Any man or woman who does not practice strict monogamy should remain a celibate. Trial, contract marriages are not allowed in Brotherhood. Once a man's marriage is blessed, such cannot marry again except on the grounds of adultery or the demise of one of the partner. All married couples, indeed all brethren, are advised to buy and read the publication entitled "Key to successful marriage"-sermons by Leader Olumba Olumba Obu. .

BAPTISM
Repentance and Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the gate-way to salvation, and into the Kingdom of God. Through Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Gift of the Holy Spirit is bestowed unto you. Baptism is conducted at any time or day, whenever the person is ready to accept, it is for all ages. Matt 3:11, 28:19, John 3:5, Mark 16:16, Ephesians 4:4-5. Baptism is one of the sacraments in Brotherhood of the Cross and star. It is a passage rite into God's kingdom now established on earth. All those seeking for the kingdom of God must observe the first step which is to be baptized by immersion notwithstanding whether or not one had been baptized elsewhere. Baptism can be conducted anywhere in the world, it is not restricted to any area or location. Once a new convert is ready for baptism, same should not be postponed. Members must be ready to administer baptism at all times and at all places provided there is water deep enough to cover the new convert when immersed. Children should be baptized too. The day of baptism into Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, the kingdom of God on earth is a unique and most important day in the person's life; and the person should break a feast. It is a day of salvation, a day of joy. Baptism into Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is a must if one must have salvation (St. John 3: 5; St. Mark 16: 16). After baptism and anointing, one becomes bound in unity with other brethren to fulfill the scripture which says "one lord, one faith and one baptism". Nobody is coerced, intimidated, threatened or begged to accept baptism in Brotherhood. There is absolute emphasis on fervent belief in our Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of man, Son of God and God Himself for whosoever wants baptism in Brotherhood. Prospective members must denounce and resign their membership of all secret societies, do away with all charms and concoctions, rings and talisman, occult books, materials and practices before baptism into Brotherhood, else such baptism is without benefit. Money is not charged for baptism; such practices are evil and attract terrible negative consequences to the perpetrator. Order of Baptism in later pages.

LOVE FEAST
Love feast is a sacrament introduced by the Holy Spirit in Brotherhood of the Cross and Star. It is to commemorate the Passover or Last supper, during which our God and Savior changed a His living Body, and wine to His priceless Blood. We daily celebrate the Holy Communion or the Love Feast. The Love feast is very sacred and can accomplish anything. Feast is not food that you eat to be filled. Thus, a piece of bread, biscuit, banana, orange, paw-paw, pineapple and even a spoon full of rice is enough for one to eat as feast. Feast should be bought, prepared and eaten with utmost reverence and respect to Holy Spirit. Nobody should struggle and fight for feast.

When feast is served, everyone should kneel down when he or she collects same. No special time has been set for feast conducting. No special fruits are recommended for feast.

No conditions, modality or amount are stipulated for celebration of feast. Feast in BCS consists of fruits, vegetables, rice etc., and water.

It is purely vegetarian and is blessed and served after service or fasting.

Feast could be of two types:

1. Fruits feast: prepared basically with various types of fruits.
2. Full feast: consists of both fruits and food.

There is also house feast, which could be fruits or full. BCS members do house feast or blessing before or shortly after they move into a house and also at will, as the Holy Spirit reveals or directs. Acts 2:42-47.

BCS members neither kill, eat nor offer meat or fish; nor do they eat any dairy product. In BCS, Vegetarian is practiced. Eating of fruits is very important and significant, hence BCS member-s usually have fruits at their homes; fruits are served to visitors or strangers in place of drinks. Genesis 1:29,

BCS members do not drink or offer alcoholic drink, wine, soft or any artificially mixed drink except water. Smoking and snuffing is not the food of the Holy Spirit and is not acceptable in BCS.

FASTING AND PRAYER
Fasting is the act of refraining oneself from food and water. It is a period of purification in which brethren devote themselves to prayers and supplications to God. Fasting brings one closer and in direct communication with his/her Creator through self-sanctification while separated from the chaos of the world. It is good for the spirit, as well as the flesh. All type of sickness is cured, and problems are solved through fasting. Members are enjoined to fast 6:00am to 6:00pm especially on Thursday- as this was the day Our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified (as opposed to Friday, adopted by other Christian organization). See the Good Friday Gospel by Leader Olumba Olumba Obu.

Before each Pentecostal period,72 hours dry Fasting(complete abstinence from food and water) is undertaken by all Brotherhood of the Cross and Star members, Matt 17:21, Galatians 5:24-25, this is to purify and prepare oneself for the one month Pentecostal, which is one week after the dry fasting.

During Pentecostal, fasting is being observed from 6:00am – 6:00pm, to bring one closer and make one worthy to receive the Holy Words and blessings of God, Acts 13: 2-3. As with all other fasting, full feast is shared for the breaking of fast. Like in all other activities, everything is directed solely by the Holy Spirit. Nothing is compulsory or imposed on any member.

TITHE
Everybody must pay one tenth of his/her earning as tithe to God Bethels. Associations and fellowships must pay tithe from proceeds realized form functions. Tithe payment is a secret between you and your God. Malachi 3:7-12.

“Everybody from the days of your fathers ye go away from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. “But you say wherein have we robbed thee?” in tithe and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse, for ye have robbed me; even this whole Nation. Bring ye all the tithe into the store house, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open you the windows of Heaven and pour you out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke trhe devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts." Malachi 3: 6-12 If you have been joking with the tithe belonging to God by way of not paying regularly or using same for personal or group purpose stop forthwith otherwise your condition will get worst. You attract great blessings when you pay your tithe regularly and ensure that same as paid into the Bethels Tithe Box are regularly remitted through the appropriate channel.

DOCTRINE

All the doctrines of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) are in conformity with the teachings and doctrines of Our Lord Jesus Christ; hence BCS is a Spiritual School of Practical Christianity ' " Isaiah 2:2-4, St. John 16: 12-15, 1 st Corinthians 13: 10 & 12.

TITLES
All females and males of all ages and status are addressed as Sisters and Brothers, or brethren, Matt 23:8, Act 9:17, Rev 6:11, Malachi 2: 1 0, because we are of one parents (Adam and Eve) one God. Genesis 1:26-27.

KNOCKING OF HEAD
BCS members knock (bow) their head three times in reverence to the Holy Trinity God, before and after prayers (Matt 2:11'; 26:39, 1Corinthians 14:25, Rev 7:11) or at any time, place or occasion whenever the spirit directs. Knocking of head is a very vital and effective part of communication with God; It is akin to a dialling tone or knocking on the door before going in.

BETHELS
Members of BCS worship in a ‘Bethel’ (as opposed to what others called churches) as in Genesis 28:18-19. The true meaning of Church is ' body of a person, which is where God dwells, and not a building or premises'. These Bethels have their own names depending on the location or the name of the area where it is built e.g., Elephant & Castle Bethel London, Manchester Bethel, or Soweto Bethel South Africa and so on. Bethels of the BCS are opened 24hours a day, 7days a week, and Each day of every year from January to December.

GREETINGS
"Peace of the Father", “Perfect Peace" or "Peace be unto you;" is the general opening greetings of BCS members irrespective of the time or occasion. Peace is a heavenly language. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace -Isaiah 9:6. And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, these are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them". (Rev. 7: 13-15) "And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white; for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints." (Rev. 19:8) Brothers and Sisters use the same uniform, the fact that sisters use white head ties in addition. BCS members commonly or instinctively dress in white to work, occasions or casuals as simple as possible, no makeup, no plaits, or jewelry of any kind; rings, chains, beads and no wearing of wrist watch, 1 Peter ~:3, 1 Timothy 2:9-10, Exodus 32:2-4, etc.

WHITE ROBES
The long white robe or garment called the soutane is worn by all members regardless of their age position within the kingdom, to bethels or outside the bethel. Rev.3:4-5, 7:9 & 14. White soutane is the same raiment that Our Lord Jesus Christ wore when He was transfigured; Matt 17:2. White symbolizes ‘righteousness’, ’purity’, and 'peace'. The white garment worn by members should member should not be designed with colored materials such as thread, etc. It should be pure white. Members should not use the garment while on illegal business trips. The white garment in BCS is sanctified by the Holy Spirit as such it should be treated with respect and holiness.

TURBANS
These are long wide ropes (girdle) with different colors tied round the waist by the ordained brothers and sisters. BCS ordination is done by the Holy Father alone. The number of years in BCS or age does not determine individual ordination. It is determined spiritually and based on destiny. All positions and duties are all based on practical love for one another and evangelism "to make the whole world that must be done".

WEARING OF SHOES
It is the doctrine of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star not to wear shoes into the Bethels or the house of worship, In recognition and reverence of the holiness and presence of God. "Then said the Lord to him, put off thy shoes from thy feet; for the place where thou standest is Holy ground" (Acts 7: 33) "God is holy and all worshippers of God must worship Him in spirit and in truth".
