Radio Free Journal
New monthly podcast focuses on hot topics for fire and life safety professionals.

PODCASTS ARE A GREAT WAY to learn and stay informed while you’re on the go, whether it’s in the car, mowing the lawn, or relaxing on the beach.

That’s why NFPA Journal is excited to announce the launch of a new monthly podcast hosted by NFPA staff writer Jesse Roman. The free podcasts will explore in audio form some of the new and emerging topics and issues covered in the pages of Journal. Each month, we’ll talk to an expert in the field about what’s going on and what you should know—all in 20 minutes or less.

New podcasts will be released on iTunes the second Tuesday of every month. Please subscribe on iTunes, and let us know what you think.

The first edition of the NFPA Journal podcast, released in April, covers the concept of resiliency, which in recent years has become an important topic in the emergency planning, security, and business worlds.

In May, we’ll talk sprinklers with NFPA’s Matt Klaus, principal fire protection engineer and liaison to the technical committees for NFPA 13, Installation of Sprinkler Systems. The podcast will cover the growing popularity of cloud ceilings and the difficulties they can cause for sprinkler designers, as well as ongoing warehouse storage trends that are making fire protection more essential—and more difficult to achieve—than ever.  Look for that episode to be released on May 12th, 2015.

If you have any questions, com-ments, or suggestions, or if you have ideas for future podcast topics or NFPA Journal articles, please let us know. Email staff writer and podcast host Jesse Roman at jroman@nfpa.org.
