March 9, 2016 – The latest issue of NFPA Journal®, the official magazine for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), looks at the resurgence of liquefied natural gas, in-rack storage sprinkler protection innovations, and issues related to membrane enclosures.
The cover story examines the reemergence of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the ongoing boom in production and storage, including the growing LNG export trade in the United States. Staff writer Jesse Roman looks at the safety risks of this trend and how they relate to pertinent NFPA codes and standards.
Also featured in this issue:
- An in-depth look at how new technology could increase the effectiveness of sprinkler protection for in-rack storage while also making it more cost-effective.
- An update on membrane enclosures, essentially enclosures within enclosures, which are used for painting and other activities in the marine industry and other applications. These devices, however, present unique safety issues which are now being addressed by NFPA codes.
