Arts Notes: ‘Folk Couture: Fashion and Folk Art’ opens Friday at the Cummer

“Folk Couture: Fashion and Folk Art” opens Friday at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, 829 Riverside Ave. The exhibit consists of garments created by 13 designers inspired by pieces in the permanent collection of the American Folk Art Museum in New York City. The designers include Chadwick Bell, Fabio Costa, Gary Graham, Catherine Malandrino, threeASFOUR, Creatures of the Wind, Bibhu Mohapatra, John Bartlett, Ronaldus Shamask, Michael Bastian, Yeohlee Teng, Koos van den Akker and Jean Yu. There will be an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Admission will be free to members, $10 to non-members. The exhibit will continue at the Cummer through Dec. 31
