'It felt dreadful': Former size 30 Lisa Riley discusses the 'mortifying' moment she was WEIGHED and fat-shamed before boarding a flight

She has recently shed a jaw-dropping ten stone from her previously size 30 frame.

But Lisa Riley admitted on Monday that being fat-shamed is still one of the most embarrassing things she has ever suffered.

The former Emmerdale actress, 40, recalled on Loose Women a time when she was weighed before boarding an aeroplane - penning the entire experience 'mortifying'.

Lisa recounted the story to her co-hosts of when she was forced to stand on the scales before boarding a plane in Kathmandu, to determine where she would sit to balance out the aircraft's weight.

Showing the photo of the event live on air, Lisa admitted: 'My hand in the photo is covering up the digits on the screen. I didn't want anyone to see! It felt dreadful.'

The story comes after the panel were discussing how Hawaiian Airlines are planning to weigh their passengers before they board to try and reduce the number of crashes.

While Lisa said she would never want to be put in that position again, she did address the fact that Hawaii has a very large proportion of obese men and women, so the move may be necessary.

Co-host Jane Moore then suggested people should be charged a combined weight for their luggage and themselves rather than making plane seats larger, because it is wrong to 'normalise obesity'.

The pair alongside Stacey Solomon and Coleen Nolan discussed further that health departments in Hawaii should be taking responsibility for the number of overweight people in their nation, not the airlines.

Lisa later revealed further incidences of fat-shaming at her larger weight, admitting she was mortified at a theme park, too.

The former Strictly contestant admitted she had sat down on a ride but the seat belt would not buckle over her figure, leaving her 'mortified' and having to do the 'walk of shame' off the ride.

In her usual witty style however, Lisa further added that her boobs had been too big for the ride as well, which would never happen now in her newly slim figure as they have become like 'spaniel's ears'.

Lisa has wowed her fans in recent times by losing over ten stone in weight - slipping from a size 30 to a 14.

Talking on the chat show last month, Lisa explained how she achieved her astonishing slim down: 'I have smaller portions now. I don't believe in fad diets, even though I have tried them before. I have no food after 6.30pm.

'I only eat a carb if I need one and absolutely no bread or booze. I've been going to Zumba classes which is fun. I find the gym is boring.'

However it was only last week that Lisa took a lie detector test live on air to prove she had shed the pounds through her own effort and diet - not surgery.

Lisa told the show that she's been upset by claims she is a liar, explaining: ‘When I came on this show first time and the big weight loss was revealed… 93 per cent of people are supportive.'

'Basically, what’s happened is the other few percent are calling me a liar. One thing I’m not is a liar. What I’ve done is such a good achievement.'

Lisa, who has given up alcohol and bread and embarked on a strict fitness regime, went on to detail how she shed ten stone, confessing: 'Fad diets didn’t work remotely for me. Rome wasn’t built in a day. I’ve done this slowly. I’ve been patient.'

Lisa answered four questions - Since January have she taken diet pills? Has she had liposuction? Has she had a gastric band? Has she had bariatric surgery?

She passed the test answering no for all four questions, exclaiming at the end: ‘Amazing. Such a sense of relief. Once and for all I draw a line under this. I haven’t lied and there is the proof.’
