“We are NFPA” begins with 1890 factory fires and the visionaries that established the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the National Electrical Code (NEC) or NFPA 70, the standard for the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment in the United States.
Over the past 120-years, NFPA has created more than 300 consensus codes and standards, and shared fire and life safety messaging through training, NFPA Journal®, public education campaigns, and wildfire outreach. Working with fire departments, engineers, electricians, builders, architects, designers, manufacturers, facility managers, inspectors, and insurers NFPA has adapted to our changing world and helped to reduce fire deaths along the way. On a daily basis, NFPA’s subject matter experts and stakeholders share invaluable perspective via the association’s online community, Xchange; and annually they gather at the organization’s Conference & Expo. “We Are NFPA” debuted as part of the 2016 Conference & Expo General Session in Las Vegas.
