'Love my dog': Shannen Doherty cuddles with her German Shepherd as she continues brave fight against cancer

Shannen Doherty has been fighting cancer for over a year.

And the 45-year-old actress has made a point of naming who has been there to support her. The list includes her husband Kurt Iswarienko and her mother Rosa.

On Tuesday the Beverly Hills, 90210 vet put the spotlight on her four-legged friend who is always there for her. 'My girl @missbowiedoherty and me just hanging,' she wrote in an Instagram post.

Her hashtags included #lovemydog and #bowierocks.

Doherty was showing off her shaved head, the result of chemo and radiation, as she looked at her German Shepherd.

On Sunday Doherty took a moment to shout out to friend Chelsea Handler, 41.

The beauty shared a sweet selfie alongside her friend, as well as a heartfelt message, gushing: 'This one just wants to make a difference.'

Shannen donned a patterned, blue head scarf.

Chelsea wore her blonde locks in a center part, and styled in soft waves, and showed off a big smile for the snap with her pal.

Alongside the sweet image, Shannen praised her supportive friend, posting: 'And then there is this lady.... @chelseahandler We met many many years ago. Have run into each other and always exchanged numbers, talked of plans etc.'

'Chelsea reached out and has since, made a point to have date nights with me on a weekly basis. Yeah she's funny but also wicked smart with a huge heart,' Shannen continued.

She concluded: 'Sometimes the right people come into your life at the right time. #girlpower #fightlikeagirl.'

But Chelsea isn't the only famous friend who has Shannen's back, as longtime pal Sarah Michelle Gellar has continued to make her support known.

She often posts about the star, gushing about how brave and strong she is throughout her difficult battle.

Earlier this week she shared a smiling photo with Shannen, calling her 'my friend who is kicking cancer in the you know what.'

'But more than that, she is sharing her battle, so people fighting this horrible disease know they are not alone. I am inspired by her on the daily,' SMG added.

She also urged her followers to get checked or even remind a friend to do the same, as with 'early detection and incredible doctors like Dr Piro [Shannen's doctor], breast cancer can be fought and won.'

And of course, among Shannen's biggest sources of strength are her mom Rosa, and her husband Kurt Iswarienko, with whom she celebrated her five year anniversary last week in Mexico.

The star continues to document her battle on social media, having done so since sharing the devastating news that the breast cancer she discovered in March 2015 had spread beyond her lymphatic system.
