He may have been The Amazing Spider-Man, but even on Andrew Garfield's birthday... it's hard for the charismatic Brit not to be upstaged by his lovely girlfriend, Emma Stone.

The 23-year-old treated her man for dinner to celebrate his 29th, and looked effortlessly lovely in a long red skirt with black vest and matching pointed pumps.

It was typical of the low key lovers, who seem happier away from the cameras than they are on the red carpet.

The couple are rarely seen apart.

Garfield looked serious, and very tanned, while his girlfriend seemed relaxed.

Emma is back to her natural blonde, and looks stunning with it, but she was equally as charming as a red-head.

But it's the effortless way the star makes the blonde pop with such a simple outfit, that makes her a real star.

Meanwhile, Emma has been cast to star in yet to be titled love story written and directed by Cameron Crowe.

It will be the Vanilla Sky director's first film since last year's We Bought a Zoo, and the male lead and release date have yet to be finalised.

While the plot is being kept under wraps it is said to be reminiscent of his previous movies Almost Famous and Jerry Maguire.

Meanwhile it seems Andrew is heading back to the drawing board as he pursues a new role.

For the Andy Murray lookalike was spotted stocking up on stationery as he went on a shopping trip in Studio City recently.
