What a trooper! Laura Whitmore, 31, has returned to Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals after she was reportedly unable to stand due to intense pain from an ankle injury
Doctors told Laura to give the live show a miss last Saturday, fearing that she could do 'permanent damage' to her ankle, which left her wincing in pain .
And the Irish star was given permission by bosses to miss the show, but left her worrying about her dancing prospects.
Writing in her blog for Glamour Online, she said: 'You're allowed to miss one show if the doctor says you are not physically fit to dance - but only one.'
However, she fears regular training sessions could cause the joint to flare up again: 'The fear is, if it's not fully recovered it could get inflamed again. We have a lot to catch up on but I'm not ready to throw the towel in just yet.
'It's too much fun (yes despite the wonky ankles, tears and stress it's the best show to be part of!)'
'Will try my best guys!': The TV presenter confirmed her return on Twitter
Needed to rest: Doctors believe Laura's injury stemmed from too much jiving - the dance she was learning for last week's show - and were concerned she'd ripped the ligament
Pain: Laura was reportedly unable to stand because she's in so much pain from the ankle injury that forced her to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing
Doctors believe Laura's injury stemmed from too much jiving - the dance she was learning for last week's show - and were concerned she'd ripped the ligament.
She explained: 'I was diagnosed with myotendinous strain of the right flexor hallucis longus muscle (sounds like a Harry Potter spell) caused by overuse through training and repeating one particular dance step.
'I was told by the physiotherapist to stop putting pressure on my foot straight away as so much fluid had built up and there was a risk if I kept going I would tear the ligament.
'An ultrasound on Friday (last week) confirmed the swelling had built up and the excessive fluid was causing me a lot pain but fortunately the ligament wasn't torn. We discussed the option of an injection of a strong pain killer and for them just to let me dance on Saturday but I was advised this wasn't the best course of action.'
Bedbound: Doctors told her to rest on Saturday, fearing that she could do 'permanent damage' to her ankle
'She's seen two physios and two medics over the past 24 hours and at 4.15 today show bosses took the decision she could not perform,' an insider told the Sunday Mirror.
'It is really inflamed. She's had to keep it elevated and she's being given pain killers.
'She is absolutely gutted. She's been in floods of tears because she was so excited to be performing,' the source added.
MailOnline has contacted Laura's representatives for comment.

'This was by far my favourite dance. We all train really hard. All of us dancing have aches and pains and I didn't realise the severity of my injury until it was too late. I'm sorry to let you all down.
Bowing out: Laura didn't get to perform her jive with partner Giovanni
