Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington film poignant goodbye for Game of Thrones as Daenerys Targaryen waves Jon Snow off from the beach... while Iain Glen's Ser Jorah makes his debut on set

Great alliance look to have been made in Westeros over the past few days.

And as the Game of Thrones cast continued to film scenes for series seven on-location in Spain, the King of the North's meeting with the Mother of Dragons appeared to end well.

Heading to the beach Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) bids Jon Snow (Kit Harington) a sombre farewell in a poignant moment, though her spirits are surely raised by Ser Jorah Momont's (Iain Glen) re-appearance.

Farewell to a friend? As the Game of Thrones cast continued to film scenes for series seven on-location in Spain, the King of the North's meeting with the Mother of Dragons appeared to end well

Braving the unpredictable tides in Zumaia, Northern Spain, the cast and crew filmed Jon's Snows departure from what is believed to be the fortified island of Dragonstone.

Striding out to the boat he arrived on, the King in the North can be seen leaving the Khaleesi looking full of purpose.

Clad in his familiar leather armour, hunting boots and steel gorget, Jon has been given his weapons back as he departs the Queen's fortress.

He's back! Heading to the beach Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) bid Jon Snow (Kit Harington) a sombre farewell in a poignant moment, though her spirits were surely raised by Ser Jorah Momont's (Iain Glen) re-appearance

Strapped to his side is the feared Valyrian steel sword Longclaw, gifted to Jon by his Night's Watch predecessor Jeor Mormont.

Accompanying Jon on his travels from Daenerys' stronghold is his trusted right-hand man, Ser Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham).

As Jon and Ser Davos push off from the beach Daenerys and her Hand, Tyrion Lannister, can be seen watching Eddard Stark's son disappear slowly into the distance.

However, the Khaleesi's moment of revery is interrupted by the arrival of Ser Jorah, who departed from the Khaleesi's side to find a cure for his deadly greyscale (a deadly disease which leaves the skin dead and stiff, and slmost stone-like to the touch) infection.

An impish joke: During their break Emilia, Peter and Iain had a catch-up, and shared a joke

Appearing to have made enough of a recovery from the previously uncurable disease, the disgraced knight is clad in black and plated armour awaiting an audience with his queen.

It seems the crew were struggling with the weather and tides though, as filming took a backseat when the water started to encroach on the set.

Be afraid: Other scenes filmed on the day saw Khaleesi marching across a stretch of sand accompanied by her retinue of fearsome Dothraki warriors

Don't mess with the Khaleesi: Daenerys led the way, but if the scene called for someone to try to hurt the Mother of

Hands up! As the cameras stopped rolling Emilia was seen having a chat with one of her co-stars

Lemme fix that for you: Emilia broke character and played wardrobe wizard when one of the actor suffered a costume mishap

The three stars looked to be in high spirits and were seen laughing and joking as Peter poked fun at Iain.

Emilia herself was instantly recognisable as the last of the Targaryen's thanks to her shock of white blonde hair, and she certainly looked every inch the Conqueror in her maroon cape and Imperial-like garb from Westeros.

Hanging out: Earlier on in the day the 30-year-old actress and co-star Kit, 29, were seen whiling away some down-time just above the beach

Just a word: Surrounded by busy crew members, runners and equipment, the two co-stars looked to be enjoying a chat as they walked through the sunshine

Places to be: Emilia and Kit kept their conversation on the go as they headed off to another part of the set

Treated like royalty: The two British stars were busy and attended by a host of crew members as they walked straight past the actors who play Emilia's Dothraki guards

What's my motivation: Chatting to the director, the group of talented actors looked to be listening carefully as they prepped for a new scene

Over there! The group all looked in one direction as they were walked through the next filming sequence

Filming in the past few days has taken place on Itzurun beach, famed for its flysch rock strata, which is one of the longest continuous examples of the geological phenomenon in the world.

The formation is a mix of hard layers (limestone and sandstone) and soft layers (clay and loam), and the strange wonder extends eastward and westward from Zumaia, stretching a total of 8 kilometers.

Other locations for this run of shooting have also included the shoreline of La Muriola in Barrika, two hours to the West of Zumaia, where Peter and Liam were seen filming last week.

It's also believed that cast and crew will be filming on the San Juan de Gaztelugatxe islet, close to Barrika.

A strange stretch of coast: The crew and cast are currently filming scenes in Northern Spain's Basque Country, where they have taken over the Itzurun beach

Straight out of fiction: The beach is famous for its rock formations called flysch, which has transformed the sand shore into an almost alien landscape - perfect for the fantastical world of Game of Thrones

Is it Dragonstone? It's also believed that cast and crew will be filming on the San Juan de Gaztelugatxe islet, close to Barrika
