Parents are bound to embarrass their children from time to time, but Kate Beckinsale took it to a whole new level for her daughter Lily.

The actress, 43, admitted on Late Night With Seth Meyers  on Wednesday that she inadvertently got her daughter Lily, now 17, in trouble by her teacher when she accidentally 'doodled' a penis on her homework.

Kate told the host the teacher initially told her daughter that the drawing was inappropriate, before Lily had to break the news that it was actually her mother who made the doodle.

The actress confessed to having a habit of rearranging fruit so that it resembled a penis.

'It's like my bat sign,' Kate explained.'People know I've been there if there fruit bowl has been rearranged.' 

Kate also revealed she pranked a colleague by making penis-shaped fruit arrangements by his haunts.

'It was like love bombing,' she said. 'I think it strayed into bullying, but I felt very positive about it.'

Family matters: Kate's daughter Lily is from her previous relationship with Michael Sheen

Kate's daughter Lily is from her previous relationship with actor Michael Sheen, 47.  

The actress recently revealed she occasionally sends her daughter photos of her ex completely naked.

During an appearance with Conan O'Brien, the star admitted she found few things funnier than a naked man.

She said: 'You made that sound creepy. My daughter and I are both from the school where we find a naked man very funny under the right circumstances.

'There's a funny picture of him in a very good show that he did, in which he was brilliant, but they have a still of him getting out of a bathtub naked, with a quite military face and stance.

'If I sense she's feeling low I'll think, "You know what, she could use Mike in the bath".'

Michael and Kate split in 2003 and he has been in a relationship with comedic actress Sarah Silverman, 45, since 2014.    

Speaking to Chelsea Handler on her Netflix talk show Chelsea, he explained: 'Our relationship now is probably better than it ever was. And it helps that she [Kate] actually likes Sarah more than she likes me.

He added: 'The only way it doesn't work out is that now I have not only Sarah, but also Kate and my daughter Lily, who all just make fun of me and embarrass me at any given point.'

Speaking about the pair's friendship, Sarah said: 'He and Kate are like brother and sister. I love her, she's hilarious. She's really, really cool.'

'The thing that surprised me was what a big deal everybody made about us all getting on and then thinking, "F**k, that's really sad if it's that unusual.

Kate also revealed that comedienne Sarah is a great influence on Lily and says she would want her around her daughter even if she were no longer dating the Masters of Sex star.

She added: 'I'm completely open to any other strong, cool sensitive independent-thinking women who are going to be an influence in my daughter's life.'

Speaking to E! on the red carpet earlier this year, Kate admitted she was thrilled at Michael's choice of girlfriend.

She said: 'I love her. I love her. I love her. I am so glad Michael found her so I don't have to spend the rest of my life looking for her.'

Sarah has been equally complimentary about Kate in the past, having previously said: 'I love her. She's hilarious... She's really really cool. They're really funny together.'

After her relationship with Michael ended in 2003, the actress went on to marry Len Wiseman.

The director recently filed for divorce from Kate after over a decade of marriage. 

Kate was seen out and about in in New York City for the first time since her husband filed for divorce on Wednesday.
