Getting used to single life! Makeup-free Naomi Watts, 48, looks glum in NYC during one month anniversary of split from Liev Schreiber

It's been exactly one month since Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber announced their split after 11 years together.

And on Thursday the 48-year-old actress looked understandably glum as she left her apartment in New York City.

The blonde was likely heading to work on her latest TV series Gypsy.

Starting her new life: Newly single Naomi Watts looked a little glum when she was spotted walking away from her New York apartment on Thursday

In the Netflix original series she plays therapist Jean Holloway, who becomes too immersed in the lives of her patients.

Nothing matched on Watts' outfit but she still managed to look cute.

She wore a grey-white boucle jacket over a white blouse, pale grey V-neck sweater and skinny jeans that she tucked into black boots with a buckle detail.

The star pulled a dark red knitted hat over her blond tresses to keep warm as she walked along.

Naomi and Liev share sons Samuel, seven, and Sasha, nine, together.

Never married, they released a statement about the break-up, saying: 'Over the past few months we've come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple.

'It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship.'

The family shared a home in New York but Liev has had to spend extended time in Los Angeles where his Ray Donovan TV series films for the past three years.

Naomi remained in New York where their boys go to school, along with her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Bob.

In June he told Ellen DeGeneres the distance was a problem: 'It's hard on me most, I think. You have to put them (family) first at a certain point, and the back-and-forth thing can get tough.'
