The fashionista called receiving an OBE from the Princess Royal as an 'amazing feeling' and said his dream cover shoot would be with real, not fashion, royalty.
He was named on the Queen's birthday honours list for services to diversity in the fashion industry.
After receiving his medal, he told the Press Association that challenging convention was something that came naturally and he believed it was 'the way forward' for the industry.

He relished sharing the moment with his supermodel friend Naomi, whom he has known since he was a teenager.
He said: 'Just seeing her face as I was about to pick up my medal - she's so proud, I think she was almost crying.
'We've come such a long way together, since we were teenagers.

Appropriately, he also said first word of the honour came around the same time he was imagining pop icon Rihanna as a futuristic, bejewelled queen for the publication's 2016 September cover.
He said: 'Rihanna's the queen of music, so (I thought) why don't we do her in the style of the Queen of England. So the Queen played a very important part.'
He revealed his 'ultimate dream' would be to continue the royal theme by snaring a photo shoot with the Duchess of Cambridge.
