Angelina Jolie 'was interviewed for FOUR hours by the FBI' about private plane incident that led her to file for divorce from Brad Pitt

  • Angelina Jolie sensationally filed for divorce from Brad Pitt last month
  • It was sparked by allegations that Pitt was physical with their kids
  • DCFS launched an investigation that was supposed to end in October but has now been extended
  • The FBI is said to be 'looking into charges of assault'
  • The couple's six children remain living with Jolie while Pitt has visitation

Angelina Jolie was interviewed by the FBI for four hours about what happened during a private plane flight from France to California during which it's claimed Brad Pitt physically abused son Maddox, 15.

And according to UsWeekly.com, the actress, 41, 'fully cooperated' with the two FBI agent who also spoke with 'some of the kids.'

'The agents wanted a breakdown of everything that happened from when the plane took off to when it landed,' an insider told the publication.  'They’re looking into charges of assault.'

It was reported Wednesday that Angelina Jolie spent four hours speaking to FBI agents investigating Brad Pitt for alleged assault following an incident on a private plane on September 14. The now estranged couple are pictured with their kids in 2014

Maddox, along with siblings Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne remain living with Jolie while Pitt has visitation.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services has extended its investigation into Brad Pitt.

A source told InTouch magazine: 'DCFS could have closed this case and referred the family to a mental health professional. The fact that they didn’t, the fact that they are still involved, shows it’s serious.'

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Jolie and Pitt seeking comment.

Pitt, pictured with his children Pax, Shiloh and Maddox and his mother at the LA premiere of Unbroken in 2014, is also being investigated by the Dept. of Children & Family Services

The ongoing investigation by both agencies is the main reason Pitt has not yet formally responded to Jolie's divorce filing, in which she is seeking full custody of their children.

The Allied star, 52, wants joint custody but also wants to avoid a bitter court battle and public showdown over the kids.

In the meantime, the voluntary parenting plan the couple previously agreed to, which included counseling and visitation, will continue, according to People.

The Allied actor has already been subjected to more than a month of interviews, two voluntary drug tests, which both came back negative and limited visits with his six children.

'Brad’s disgusted with how Angie has handled the entire situation,' a source told InTouch. 'It’s a very sad situation for everyone. He’s disgusted but she’s worried about the safety of their kids around him.'

Jolie, 41, filed for divorce from Pitt, 52, last month and is seeking full custody of their children. Pitt, who wants joint custody, has yet to formally respond to her petition. The former couple, who had been together for 12 years and married for two, are pictured in 2015

Jolie filed for divorce in a Los Angeles court September 19.

In the filing, she said she separated from her husband on September 15 – a day after the couple and son Maddox were involved in an alleged altercation on their private plane.

The DCFS investigation was launched after someone reported the incident anonymously, according to People.
