  • Fallon's drinking made headlines last year after he suffered three injuries within five months during or after alleged nights out

As the rumor mill continues to swirl around his drinking habits, Jimmy Fallon was all smiles in Manhattan on Wednesday.

The late-night host seemed less than fazed by new reports claiming NBC executives had warned him to cut back his boozing.

Fallon looked dapper in khaki slacks and a navy blue toggle coat to fight the autumn chill as he clutched his briefcase on the way to work at the The Tonight Show.

On Tuesday NBC flat-out denied a Page Six report that executives had feared Fallon's alcohol habits had become 'out of control'.

As the rumor mill continues to swirl about his drinking habits, Jimmy Fallon was all smiles in Manhattan on Wednesday as he made his way to work at The Tonight Show

The late-night host seemed less than fazed by reports claiming NBC executives had warned him to cut back his boozing and were worried 'something might happen to him'

An insider told the site that higher-ups at the network feared that something 'could happen' to Fallon 'while he's out drinking'.

But the Peacock Network was quick to release a denial, and a Fallon source told Daily Mail Online that things have never been better for his show.

'Any suggestion that we have concerns about his behavior or have given him any kind of "warning" is completely false,' NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said in a statement.

'Jimmy Fallon is one of NBC's biggest assets and we're extremely proud that The Tonight Show continues to be the late-night leader in all metrics, including ratings and social media awareness.'

Greenblatt said Fallon was in a 'class by himself' and had been chosen to host the upcoming Golden Globes in January.

The Fallon insider also shot down rumors that the host was 'insanely jealous' of Late Late Show host James Corden.

Sources told Page Six that a few of Fallon's 'key staff members' had left to work for the Carpool Karaoke star at CBS.

'There's been some upheaval, and Jimmy hasn't handled it well,' the source claimed. 'He's at the top of his game, but he's insecure.'

Fallon's drinking made national headlines early last year after he injured himself three times within five months in 2015 - most seriously hurting his left ring finger (pictured July 2015)

The Tonight Show host nearly severed his finger when his wedding band caught on a table at his home in June 2015 and nearly ripped it off. He had to take two weeks off from work

But the insider told Daily Mail Online that there was only 'respect and positive feelings' between Fallon and Corden and the 'manufactured rumors of competitiveness didn't make any sense'.

The hard numbers seem to point to that. Fallon has dominated his 11.35pm time slot, pulling in an average of 3.43 million viewers earlier this month.

Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, who share the same slot, by comparison have pulled 2.75 million and 2.24 million viewers respectively.

Corden, who is in the 12.35am slot and does not directly compete with Fallon, received an average of 1.31 million viewers, according to the Nielsen Ratings.

Fallon spent 10 days in the ICU and had to take two weeks off from his top-rated show during his recovery.

Hours before the injury, Fallon had been seen dining and sipping on wine at the Italian restaurant Scalinatella in Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Just eight weeks after he nearly lost his finger, Fallon revealed to his fans that he had chipped a tooth while grabbing medication for his hand.

Then in October, Fallon injured his other hand and had to be rushed to the hospital after he fell on broken glass during a Harvard University appearance.

Fallon had been holding a bottle of Jägermeister and greeting fans when he tripped over a woman who had bent down in front of him at a party, causing him to fall and land on the broken glass.

He was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, but soon returned to the Cambridge event, where Instagram photos showed he continued partying with his hand wrapped in bandages.

Fallon later shared a picture of the injury with his fans, writing: 'Nothing that a few Band-Aids couldn't fix.'

Most recently, Fallon was seen partying with his show's staff at a punk bar in Manhattan following the first presidential debate in September.

Sources told the New York Post that Fallon was 'very drunk' during the outing at Manitoba's Bar in the East Village neighborhood.

Page Six claims the recent partying had sparked new concerns among the higher-ups at NBC.

One Fallon source told the site that the late-night host is a 'heavy drinker' who 'sees himself as somebody who needs image rehabilitation'.

But another friend said Fallon, a father-of-two, has 'cut back on his drinking'.

Last year NBC extended the host's Tonight Show contract to 2021 and announced a Universal Orlando ride based on Fallon's show, dubbed 'Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon', would open in 2017.

The Page Six source claimed Fallon's drinking 'got so serious' that executives at NBC feared it would lead to a split between him and wife Nancy Juvonen (pictured here with their children)
