John Turturro will reprise role of Jesus Quintana from The Big Lebowski opposite Susan Sarandon for new film Going Places

John Turturro confirmed he will reprise his The Big Lebowski role of bowler/registered sex offender Jesus Quintana in a spin-off project titled Going Places.

The actor, who is writing and directing the flick, said in a statement that the film will be based on a 'trio of misfits whose irreverent, sexually charged dynamic evolves into a surprising love story.'

Going Places also features Susan Sarandon, Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou and Sonia Braga.

Still rollin': John Turturro, 59, is set to play 'The Jesus' again in a new film called Going Places

To-do list: The actor has been trying, for years, to bring his character back to the silver screen

Sure can roll: In the 1998 film, Turturro's character was a rival to The Dude and Walter, played respectively by Jeff Bridges and John Goodman

The trio, according to a statement, also makes 'enemies with a gun-toting hairdresser' in the flick, which is an homage to Les Valseuses, a 1974 film released in France that featured Gérard Depardieu and Patrick Dewaere.

In new shots released, the 59-year-old actor is donning his trademark costume from the 1998 cult hit, a purple top with a hairnet atop his head and a pinky nail that's elongated.

The New York City native, a creative force in front of and behind the camera, said at 2014's 60th Taormina Film Festival in Italy that he would not be averse to reprise the enigmatic screen persona.

Ear to the grindstone: Turturro should have a built-in audience with the spin-off film, as the 1998 Coen brothers comedy remains a cult classic

'If I can get the permission I need,' The Barton Fink star said, 'I'd like to return to that role.'

Director Ethan Coen said in a 2013 interview with The Toronto Star Turturro 'talks to [him and his brother] incessantly about doing a sequel about his character Jesus.

'He even has the story worked out, which he’s pitched to us a few times, but I can’t really remember it. No, I don’t see it in our future.'

In the comedy classic from the Ethan and Joel Coen brothers, Quintana was a bowling rival to chief characters The Dude (Jeff Bridges) and Walter Sobchak (John Goodman), who the latter exposed as 'a sex offender, with a record' after exposing himself to a child.

Rehabbed?:  'The Jesus,' in the original film, brought his bizarre eccentricities to the bowling alley with him
