Celebrities on both sides of the pond have been dressing in an array of gory costumes. 

But Katy Perry went more political in her choice of ensemble, going as her preferred US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

And the 32-year-old Firework singer even donned prosthetics to transform into a very convincing version of her idol.

Sharing the transformation process on her Instagram story, Katy's make-up artists added thirty years to the star's appearance. 

Wielding make-up brushes and fake skin, the experts' every move was captured on her social media. 

And once her face and neck were transformed, she added a blonde wig, blow-dried to perfection.

To complete her impressive ensemble she wore a bright red trouser suit, looking every inch a Hilary. 

And accompanying her was a pal who was dressed as Bill Clinton.

Clad in a grey suit and red tie, the silver fox completed her convincing display. 

The duo were surrounded by Men In Black-style bodyguards, arriving in true presidential style.

Katy's boyfriend Orlando was in China filming his next project, Smart Chase: Fire & Earth, missing her 32nd birthday earlier this week, but he appears to have flown out to join her for her favourite holiday.

A source told HollywoodLife.com: 'Orlando buried Katy in flowers on her birthday and felt horrible he could not be there for her birthday. 

'He has been super busy on set of his new movie in China and while things have cooled off a bit between the two, they still FaceTime and text regularly.

'Katy still considers him her prince and she was blown away by the surprise flowers he sent from halfway around the world.'

Is that Orlando? Katy and her pal made a convincing pair

Things have reportedly got so serious between Katy and the Lord of the Rings actor that he has even introduced her to his son Flynn, five, whom he has with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

The insider explained: 'Katy and Orlando are doing really well. They have been hanging out a lot over the past two months. They are a very chill pair...They both communicate great and laugh when they are around each other.

'Katy has met Flynn, and they get along wonderful. She thinks he is so cute and such a well behaved kid! Katy would [also] like kids one day, and she is vocal about that.'

Katy, the daughter of evangelical preachers, has been outspoken in her support of the Democratic presidential nominee. 

In July she joined Alicia Keys, Paul Simon and Lenny Kravitz as a guest artist at the four-day Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, where she called on fans to rally behind the party's first female nominee. 

In September she took to Twitter and shared an image of herself in which she appeared to be naked along with the caption: 'Tomorrow I use my body as clickbait to help change the world.'

The tweet teased a Funny Or Die video, released the following day, in which she encouraged her fans to vote in the election. 

Last Saturday she went door-to-door inside the dormitories at the University of Nevada Las Vegas to coax students to polling stations in the important swing state.

According to Breitbart News, Katy was heard saying: 'We’re out here campaigning for Hillary Clinton. Ever heard of her?

'Because there’s no other alternative. We need our issues heard, we need our bodies taken care of, we need all that choice.'
