Having her say: Coleen Nolan, speaking on Loose Women on Friday, has insisted she doesn't agree with Katie Piper's criticism of gory Halloween makeup
'She's a fantastic woman and it's incredible how she helps other people going through the same trauma, I have to say though that in this instance I don't agree with her,' explained Coleen.
'It's Halloween, kids look forward to it and the more fake blood you put on them, they all want scars. It's kids having fun. It would be different if they were taking the mick.'
Katie branded costumes featuring temporary burns, scars and disfigurements as 'distasteful and offensive' in an impassioned outpouring to her 385,000 followers on Wednesday night.
The TV personality, 33, was scarred for life in 2008 when her ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch hired Stefan Sylvestre to throw acid on her face in an attack which left her still needing reconstructive surgery nearly a decade later.

The philanthropist wrote: 'It's not even Halloween and I've had over 20 photos on my feed of make-up artists posting Halloween gore-overs.
'It's distasteful and offensive to make temporary burns, scars and disfigurements on someone's face for Halloween.
'Some of us have these differences all year round. When did Halloween turn into people imitating accident victims?'
Next to the image, the mother-of-one attached a further note, reading: 'I enjoy Halloween just as much as the next person but please don't dress up as someone that has had trauma happen to them.

'Even if you don't care about other people's feelings how about remembering non of us are immune and it could be you one day with those injuries no Halloween make up needed.
'Pumpkins, witches, cats, bats whatever but not someone who has been seriously injured please.'
Coleen's Loose Women co-stars agreed with her that children should be allowed to have fun and choose their own Halloween makeup and costumes, although mother of two Ayda Field, wife of Robbie Williams, admitted she was enjoying the final years of picking outfits for her kids.
'I'm at the little princess stage, Robbie loves to dress up like a princess,' Ayda joked. 'No, I realise this year is the last year I get to decide what my children get to wear. Teddy wants to be a princess, but she's going to be a giraffe. It is age-based. What if five years from now she wants to dress like a zombie?'
Coleen pointed out: 'When they get older they don't want to be so comical or cute.'

The mother-of-one suffered horrific and life-changing burns at the hands of her convicted ex-boyfriend Daniel Lynch who organised an assailant - Stefan Sylvestre - to throw acid in her face in March 2008.

The 23-year-old newbie dressed as a gory escaped prisoner complete with slashed wrists, a cut throat and a bloodied convict-inspired dress - yet a pre-filming selfie caused outrage among followers as it looked as though she had self-harmed.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, she shared a selfie to exhibit her realistic prosthetic make-up, leading to her sincere apology in the face of the bitter backlash from fans.
Amber, who joined the show earlier this year as the girlfriend of Chris Clark, led her co-stars in filming Halloween episode as she dressed as a sexy prisoner.

In her selfie, the rest of the costume was not visible, which appeared to lead fans to believe she was feigning slit wrists - when in fact the look was supposed to be caused by handcuffs.
Users lashed out at the star for being 'insensitive in the face of mental illness', as they penned: 'Slit wrists bit insensitive considering it's just been mental health week #epicfail
'The make up artist is very talented in creating this, however this isn't what I'd call Halloween, more the consequence of self harm, not nice... I'm sure your intention wasn't to upset anyone though @amberdowdingx x'.

Amber seemed to realise how the image looked as she offered a gushing apology: 'I am sorry if I have upset anyone. As you will see in my next picture I am a prisoner and they are cuts from the handcuffs.'
Katie has previously detailed the moment she realised the full extent of her injuries after her attack.
Writing in her book, Beautiful, she said: 'Taking a deep breath, I held it up to my face. That little mirror was a window into hell.
'My skin was red raw. My eyelids were puffy and underneath, my eyeballs protruded like cartoonish globes.
'My left eyeball looked milky and opaque. My lips were swollen like sausages and my eyelashes and eyebrows gone.
'My nose was a shrivelled mound. My cheeks had sunk into my skull. My face had melted into my neck like candle wax.
'I wasn't a model and TV presenter any longer. How could I be, looking like that? "No," I whimpered, my chest heaving with sobs. No tears came: my ravaged eyes couldn't even cry.'
Katie married husband Richard Sutton in November 2015, after welcoming daughter Belle into the world in March 2014.
