Activists discuss Ohio Wal-Mart shooting with US attorney
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Activists have met with the U.S. attorney in Dayton, Ohio, to urge him to investigate the use of force by police in a suburb where a white officer fatally shot a black man holding an air rifle in a Wal-Mart store.
Friday's meeting involved members of Greene County Black Lives Matter. It was about the Aug. 5 shooting of John Crawford III at a store in Beavercreek.
Participants pushed for a thorough civil rights investigation and an investigation of the Beavercreek police. They want federal charges against two officers.
Crawford was killed by police responding after a 911 caller who reported a man waving what appeared to be a firearm. A grand jury concluded the shooting was justified.
Activists demonstrated outside the courthouse in bitter cold weather.
