'Savage level 10/10!' New York Burger King is praised online after pranking McDonald's by dressing up the fast food chain as its bitter rival's GHOST for Halloween

  • The Rego Park, New York, location of Burger King was decked in a pair of white sheets with eye holes covered with golden arch eyebrows
  • The name McDonald's was painted in black over the entrance and sign, which read  'Boooo! Just kidding. We still flame grill our burgers'
  • Social media users praised the prank, while others dubbed it 'a level of pettiness once unheard of'

If there is one thing that we know, Burger King and McDonald's will take any opportunity to troll one another.

But this Halloween, Burger King may just have already come out on top with an epic costume prank on its rival that has immediately gone viral.

The prank was performed at the Rego Park, New York, location of the fast-food chain. At first glance, it seemed that the location was closed for business this week, as it was covered in a giant white sheet.

A lot of work: Burger King has pranked McDonald's by turning one of its locations in New York into a ghost of its rival restaurant

Hitting out: The ghost costume was complete with golden arch eyebrows and the sign outside the restaurant included further insult to McDonald's

However, upon closer inspection, it was clear that the entire building was actually dressed like a ghost, complete with eye holes cut over the restaurant's logo.

But what really grabbed the attention of social media users was the clever slight included in the costume: The name of McDonald's painted over it in black.

Over the eye holes, they even painted a yellow M in the place of eyebrows, resembling the famous golden arches.

To add even more sting to the insult, the sign outside the restaurant read: 'Boooo! Just kidding. We still flame grill our burgers. Happy Halloween!'

Getting attention: The restaurant's Halloween-themed publicity stunt quickly went viral

Yes, the restaurant was dressed as the ghost of McDonald's, a move that has been dubbed 'a level of pettiness once unheard of'.

'Savage. A Burger King "dressed up" as a McDonalds ghost for #Halloween,' wrote one Twitter user.

Another added: 'This Burger King dressed up as a McDonald's ghost. Savage level 10/10.'

But the prank went even further than that. Some of the packaging in the store was dressed up with the word McDonald's written on top of it in Sharpie.

A step further: The packaging in the location also had McDonald's written on it in Sharpie

A big hit: Some social media users praised the prank, while this one thought it was petty

The two organizations have a lengthy history of ribbing each other on the public stage.

Last year, Burger King reached out to McDonald's to create the 'McWhopper', a hybrid of each company's signature burger, in honor of the International Day of Peace.

Unfortunately, McDonald's declined the invitation, but in doing so took a swipe at their rivals with a post from CEO Steve Easterbrook saying in a statement: 'a simple phone call will do next time.'
