'Why didn't they ask Cheryl if she's pregnant?' Phillip Schofield questions why The One Show didn't quiz the pop star on baby rumours

TV presenter Phillip Schofield couldn't believe Cheryl wasn't quizzed about those pregnancy rumours while on The One Show on Wednesday night.

The singer appeared on the BBC show to talk about her role with Childline, where she sported a rather sizeable bump.

But while she talked about the 'depression' she suffered as a teenager, no one asked her to confirm whether she was expecting her first child with boyfriend Liam Payne.

Why not? Phillip Schofield questioned why the hosts of The One Show didn't ask Cheryl if she is pregnant on Wednesday night - he spoke on This Morning on Thursday

Talking on This Morning on Thursday, Phillip said: 'Sometimes guests might say before a show, under no circumstances can you ask about this.

'But that leads me to wonder why they might have said that. It happens on this programme sometimes and normally we will do as we're told, but sometimes we are naughty.'

Co-host Holly Willoughby said: 'She might not even be pregnant.'

What's going on? Phil and Holly spoke to journalist Lucie Cave about the hot topic

Would he? The presenter made it clear he would have asked the hard questions, saying the pair are sometimes 'naughty' and ask guests about banned topics

To which Phillip replied: 'They are very good on that show, so they must have been told not to ask.

'I'm not sure I understand the intricacies of it all, but maybe she's enjoying the intricacies of it all. Maybe she's just enjoying the fun surrounding it all.'

Cheryl joined cyclist Sir Chris Hoy and Dame Esther Rantzen to talk about her new partnership with Childline on The One Show the night before.

'Just Cheryl. I am, I'm great, really well,' she said, as she appeared on the screen wearing a loose-fitting black jumpsuit.
