Shocking moment a 64-year-old man was KILLED by a single punch after he said 'excuse me' to a thug he passed in the street

A horror, senseless attack that left a New York man dead has been captured on CCTV - and now police hope to find the callous stranger who did it.

The NYPD have released video of the moment 64-year-old Patrick Gorman was punched in the head by another man on June 26, just feet from his Queens home. 

According to investigators, Mr Gorman may have been targeted by the unidentified man after accidentally bumping into a woman he was with.

He is said to have said 'excuse me' after the incident, moments before the senseless attack. 

The footage only released by cops this week, shows an injured Mr Gorman struggling to get up as his attacker strolls away with the woman by his side. 

She later hands him a bag to carry.   

Gorman is left lying on the sidewalk and - as it transpires - was fighting for his life.

EMS responded to the scene and took Gorman to a local hospital before he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police hope that by releasing the footage they will be able to identify the attacker.

The suspect is described as about 30 to 35 years old, with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, sneakers and holding a black bag, PIX11 reported.

The woman, who walked behind the culprit and ignored the incident, has short hair. She was last seen with a white T-shirt, blue jeans and sandals.

The medical examiner has not yet ruled the cause of Gorman's death 

An online obituary revealed Mr Gorman is survived by his two sisters and a brother and was a lifelong sports fan, 'dedicated' to the Red Sox, Mets 'and all things baseball, hockey, basketball and football'.

They have criticized the cops for taking so long to release the footage. 

“The video could have been released the last week in June or the first week in July," said Bryan Gorman, the victim’s brother. 'Between the time it happened and last week, it seemed like there really wasn't much being done on it.'
