Crocodile fights off rivals to feed on 188 stone carcass at South African nature reserve

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. A hungry crocodile fought off rivals to feed on a dead giraffe at a nature reserve in South Africa. The reptile approached the dead animal before sinking its jaws into it at Kruger National Park . The large crocodile beat other reptiles to the carcass before sinking its teeth into the 188 stone carcass at Lower Sabie on October 28. Adult crocodiles can feed on a wide range of vertebrates including, buffalo, young hippos, and large cats. But fish and smaller vertebrates often form the greatest part of their diet. Crocodiles have a reputation of being man-eaters. They account for a few hundred deaths a year. Nile crocodiles will also often scavenge from carcasses.

The flights are targetting the ice now, at the start of the melt season and are due to end on 19 November.
