Speaking to Hello! about her husband after the wedding, Aliona gushed: 'Vincent is a lot of fun and adores me. He is the sweetest man I have ever met. He is my soulmate.

'You never know when you're going to meet someone who is so right for you. My parents keep saying they couldn't have imagined I would meet someone who is so similar to me.'

As for her wedding day, Aliona added: 'It was perfect, just the way we imagined it. We were both so emotional.'

She and Vincent relocated to the States soon after with the intention of starting a family together, according to The Sun.

A source close to the dancer revealed to the paper at the time that Aliona felt it was time to focus on her personal life after years on the BBC show.

The insider claimed: 'Aliona loves children and is ready to have a family. As much as she loves Strictly she doesn't want to put her plans for a baby on hold any more.'

Before finishing: 'They are going to start trying right away.'

Taking to Twitter, she explained to fans: 'Going into this Strictly Come Dancing series 13, I decided that no matter what would happen, it will be my last one.'

Yet, the blonde insisted that after seven years on the BBC hit, this season was her favourite by far. She continued: 'After 7 years on Strictly Come Dancing, as my finale, this has been my best Strictly experience ever by a long way!'

The announcement came after she had faced criticism during the show over her cosy relationship with former The Wanted singer Jay.

She was pictured looking very intimate with him following their victory on the 2015 finale, which drew further attention to their strong bond.

However Jay later confirmed they had simply become 'best friends' during rehearsals for the series, and that their chemistry was all part of the act.

Immediately afterwards, Aliona then jetted to Florida with Vincent where they enjoyed a romantic sun-soaked break, before changing her Twitter handle to her married name.
